I worked at Exterran full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Managers were very good
    Employees helpful
The company had many team building activities

    Cons

The downturn in the oil and gas industry hurt this company and they let go of many employees that were working there for many many years.

I have been working at Exterran full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People are mostly great, the ones who are still here. Lot of people leaving that have been here a long time, because change in management and change in direction hasn't proven to be the most successful.

    Cons

Everyone is overworked and pushed to their limit.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to the people and valuing them again rather than having the outlook that all people are dispensable. Cut the political crap and put the people in place who know how to do the job, rather than holding on to friends. Consultants are brought in to highlight problem areas, however no one ends up listening to what the consultants say and problems don't get fixed.

I worked at Exterran full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunities for advancement and personal development are very good. I was lucky and had outstanding supervisors and leadership.

    Cons

After the Exterran / Archrock split all the good things got lost. I should have gone to the Archrock side.

    Advice to Management

Look up the definition of "Management".

I have been working at Exterran as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pays well and very close to home. If you are in the office then it is not actually pretty nice. Well stocked break-rooms for the office employees.

    Cons

Very antiquated processes, too much utilization of Excel spreadsheets. Not sure of how productive one can be if half of the day is spent in meetings.

    Advice to Management

Familiarize new employees with the job expectations and provide the necessary tools and resources.

I worked at Exterran full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Management has great ideas and are working hard to fix everything in the Company to get us back on track.

    Cons

Doesn't like to promote from within
Pays well under market averages for roles, and refuses to give real raises
Must get an offer from another Company for them to increase your salary
Many groups are severely understaffed so you have to do the work of multiple people
    Training is a joke/nonexistent
    Technology is lagging

    Advice to Management

Change is great, but you need to work on retention, and work culture.

I worked at Exterran full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Exterran is a good company to work. They are flexible in many areas including in and out schedules and occasionally working from home.

    Cons

There are some work redundancies because the current system does not allow users to switch from one screen to another maintaining the same information. There are also few manual processes they are currently trying to overcome.

    Advice to Management

I believe management is moving in the correct direction, considering where the company was ten years ago.

when there is work to be done you can easy put in 60 hours. That is good and bad. very clean and neat. safety is number 1

    Cons

i was there for almost 3 years and never got a raise. When you need to leave early, managers look down on that.

    Advice to Management

look at the people who work the hardest and reward them

I have been working at Exterran full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work/life balance is great. Friendly people. Enough variety so you're not doing the same thing every single day. Good benefits.

    Cons

Massive layoffs, salary freeze for two years "to prevent more layoffs" followed by - you guessed it - more layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they're worth. The recovery has started, and the exodus of good employees seeking higher salaries has started too.
