    Pros

There are no pros in the IT department right now.

    Cons

Management is awful, generally have no clue what they are doing other than creating a toxic environment. I was told managers actually watch all employees even those that don't report to them to see when they are arriving and leaving. Change control process is a joke. Too much time spent on monitoring activities that aren't reviewed by auditors. Not enough time spent actually helping the business become more efficient.

    Advice to Management

Quit because none of you are good at your jobs.

I worked at Exterran full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exterran is a really good place to start out or develop an engineering career. There are plenty of opportunities to train and develop yourself. Upper management seems to be okay with pushing for training (but only when times are good).
    (Used to have) Good benefits

    Cons

Top heavy - upper management get all the protection and lower level people are screwed
No chance at career advancement - they always hire from the outside for top level management so forget about internal promotions (they are misinforming you if they say that you can climb the corporate ladder)

    Advice to Management

Please learn to value the people who work for you - promote them instead of getting outside "experts"

I worked at Exterran (Less than a year)

    Pros

The salary was fairly decent, the benefits were competitive.

    Cons

Management was a disaster. Some of the leadership team managed by bullying their employees. There was no room for fresh ideas or collaboration. Upper management had unreasonable expectations for many employees, especially new employees. Company overall was not organized, did not communicate, played favortism, and was disfunctional from day one. My advice would be, don't go and work there. There are better places of employment out there.

    Advice to Management

Stop bullying employees, stop trying to intimidate employees, focus on what that newly hired employee can bring to the organization. Mentor and train the new employees and stop acting like a company from the 1950's and act like an organization from this era. It's a mess.

    Pros

The work was interesting & job training was fine

    Cons

I was fired for concentrating on getting my home repaired after hurricane damage. The project deadline schedule was impossible to meet. My direct supervisor was unqualified for anything but to be a dictator of a banana republic. The 9/80 work shift was ridiculous because the person you need to talk to on Friday was never there.

    Pros

Benefits available at day one. That's the only benefit of starting with this company. If I could think of even one more thing to state positive about the management I would surely do so. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about employees succeeding in their roles.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate expectations
