    I worked at Exterran full-time

    Pros

Exposure to various natural gas engine OEM's and compression equipment. Decent place to learn, but you'll soon leave as you'll tire of the BS and Business Unit Directors that will lie to your face in a company meeting, while trying to save face with corporate i.e., cutting worker hours in a district that has plenty of revenue...

    Cons

This company used be known for training people by sending them to OEM training so you could improve your knowledge and your career. The pay is not competitive with the industry average for compression mechanics. As referenced above, Business Unit Directors (not all of them) but some will push the Area Managers to starve employees on hours- even when GPM is strong and the company is making money... Stay away from this...

Compression mechanics aren't a dime a dozen, when the industry bounces back you will not have enough talent and or...

I worked at Exterran full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Good place to learn other areas of the business. Great co-workers. 9/80 was a great perk.

    Cons

No accountability from other teams when working on a project. Communication is lacking from middle and upper management. Hiring/promotion nepotism adopted within the past 2 years; hiring outside versus promoting with-in. No upward mobility career path. Entrenched complacent middle management with little desire for change. Very few knowledgeable project managers; projects seldom complete on time. Salary increases...
