Pros
Fun and laid-back co-workers Lots of smart people to learn from Code quality is important Work-life balance is important Release cycles are pretty consistent Easy to take vacation Not very many meetings Easy to focus on solving problems without much overhead A cool product Lots of room for growth and lots of interesting features that still need building Many senior engineers who are approachable and easy... to work with
Show MoreCons
Not a public company so stock isn't worth anything yet No 401k matching Dealing with growing pains. Still working on finding the right amount and method of communication as the engineering team grows and more teams work on different features at the same time.
Advice to Management
Keep focusing on your employees and helping them grow. Keep working to improve diversity and team cohesiveness.

"Extremely productive company at the expense of its employees"
StarStarStarStarStarDoesn't RecommendPositive OutlookNo opinion of CEOI have been working at ExtraHop Networks full-time
Pros
REALLY smart people work here, and the people are what make this company great. The company has worked very hard to establish itself and its products, and is now leading the "wire data" market. The growth this company has had since its startup days is undeniable, and the growth here is continuing.
Cons
Many employees do not receive compensation (financial, promotional, etc) for the extra work they put in. It feels like management makes big decisions without doing preemptive research, and leaves it to the employees to figure out how to actually execute their decisions despite the technical hurdles. Feedback to management on this process is not received, and ultimately damages the employee culture here that used to... be so great.

Stop trying to move so fast, and listen to your employees. Sales and marketing cannot (and should not) run a technical company; technical teams need to run a technical company.

"Growing pains and some underlying distrust/cronyism"

Pros
Lots of smart people. Interesting and versatile product. Upper management is highly technical and knows their stuff.
Cons
The company seems to be suffering from growing pains as it expands from a start-up to a more fully-fledged company. There is an underlying bit of a culture of distrust - smart people who work hard are hired but management (in particular) seems to need to micro-manage them to somehow prevent issues/misuse/trouble. Instead that works to the contrary and people won't work hard. Some cronyism seems to have come... in as well, with good people being pushed out on trumped up issues to make room for those with personal relationships. Personal recommendations are a good way to get great candidates BUT don't neglect the people you already have.
Show MoreAdvice to Management
Stop with the micromanagement aspects. Don't believe the worst of people as your first tactic. Watch the buddy network and cronyism carefully, it cuts both ways. Pay attention to your engineers and not just sales and marketing.

Pros
An exciting, visionary product. The company is made up of many smart people, all willing to grow together. Everyone has the opportunity to affect change at ExtraHop, which is rare. The negative review on this page is completely puzzling to me. I suppose that not everyone is a fit in a highly dynamic environment. Totally disagree with regard to weakness in Sr. Management. The team is rock solid, and company growth... supports that theory.

This much is definitely true - you really have to be prepared for a fast pace and lots of change. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that has worked at a small, high growth company. If you're looking to work at a place where you can fly beneath the radar and just 'get by', you probably won't be happy. ExtraHop expects a lot, and the employees expect a lot in return. It's sort of a family in that way, which I... really appreciate. This 'con' is also where a lot of the fun lies though, at least in my opinion.

Keep on your pace to re-define what the space should expect. It's hard to cut through the noise in the market but stick with it; my sense is that things are really starting to take hold. Continue with your hiring, you've brought in some serious talent lately (re-stating confusion on the negative post about Management...)
