    Pros

Pay is great, Houston metro offices foster collaborative environment

    Cons

As a non engineer, career path is EXTREMELY limited. Not to mention, management dictates your career development for ALL employees. So much for owning your own career . :-/

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to own their career and pursue a path that they are passionate about rather than imposing your will on them

    I worked at ExxonMobil full-time

    Pros

Great salary and benefits. Challenging and fulfilling work. Great people.

    Cons

Not much of a work/life balance. The "performance driven" employee ranking system is political, corrupt and unjust. No bonuses for most employees.

    Advice to Management

Do not be naive to the system of privilege and oppression that is in place.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great new campus with many amenities.

    Extensive relocation assistance.

    Role rotations every ~2 years.

    Seemingly numerous career opportunities.

    Cons

Work life balance is more spoken about than practiced.

Mid level management puts in excessive hours and expects subordinates to do the same.

You aren't told what role you have until months after you accept ano offer of employment.

Work environment is homogenous and the company culture is uptight.

    Lacks diversity.

    Forced ranking system.

I worked at ExxonMobil (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked with very smart people. They were all hard working and it was truly a learning experience

    Cons

Management positions are given on merit and not on managing skills, so a lot of managers are not very good. Also work life balance isn't the best

    Advice to Management

Learn how to be a better manager. Read books.

    Pros

Huge networking opportunities. You encounter people with different backgrounds on a daily basis and you never know when your next big opportunity will come through that door. Particularly for students.

    Cons

As any retail/customer service and entry level job, pay is low and many times have to work long hours to make ends meet.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time

    Pros

    - Competent, highly engaged colleagues. Passionate and intelligent.
    - Job transitions every two or so years
    - Salary relatively high for the industry

    Cons

    - Performance reviews are stuck in the 1960s; wrought with biases, personal friendships, and are completed in secrecy behind closed doors
    - Management is opaque in their job transitions. Roles for nearly all employees change suddenly and without notice.
    - Company portends to be a progressive organization stressing a bold approach to doing business. In reality, management bemoans non-conformist ideas.
