Listen to your employees when they ask for a raise.
Fight for the good employees when the raises weren't approved.
Tell your employees that an opportunity is not available any more before having them figure it out when you hire in new people.
Your employees are the heart of the company--if you don't take care of them they won't take care of you.

I have been working at Eyeglass World full-time

    Pros

Other team members empathize with me on how awful it is to work here and have realistic outlooks

    Cons

Those at the corporate level are so out of touch it is laughable (pushing 2 for $78 through advertising and also pushing us to nearly triple those numbers for sake of budget), invest almost nothing in associates (got a $0.30 raise after a year of EXCEPTIONAL performance, and another dollar for a POSITION PROMOTION - other companies in this field will pay twice as much starting out as you will make after two raises), insurance is expensive and terrible (although the company does love to pat themselves on the back saying "well we didn't let it go up until this year!" It leaves a very bad taste in your mouth making less than $30k a year and still shelling out as much as I do for insurance.

    Advice to Management

Management at the store level is typically great. Their hands are tied in terms of what the corporation allows them to do to appease associates. The CORPORATION needs a total overhaul on policies and to treat the employees like people. Pay a living wage or at least incentivize me with my annual appraisal. As it stands now, it is a joke. Classic - you all stow away the millions while we make approx. 25-35k.

I worked at Eyeglass World full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If u know what u are doing then it's an easy job and the vacations are good

    Cons

Management sucks. Not only do they talk down to you they will not be held accountable for it. As a manager I wasn't even given training to adequately do my job and then when I took medical leave for three months because of a bad bout of anxiety( which my doctor strongly recommended) they threatened my job after two weeks and then played games with my paperwork like they didn't know how to read it. This company should be sued but I decided to leave instead and when I did go to another company I added 3 dollars on top of the salary I was already making to make sure I got paid more and they still laughed at how low the income was. This company from to corporate to the stores is a joke. They will low ball u in every way when u get promoted to management look up salaries first then minus 5-6 dollars an hour and that's how much they will offer u, there is no reason to work harder they really don't care about you.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees more, hold bad managers accountable, give more budgets to stores so they can hire more people and lighten the load( these aren't slaves) Chris needs to be more into if the labs every year to ensure that they don't become un fixable especially fo a new manager, managers need better training and so do associates.

    Pros

Decent pay. Decent hours. Decent benefits/incentives.

    Cons

Too much micromanagement. Not enough organization or training. Leadership is subpar.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to whom you have running the "show"so to speak. No enough countability or repercussions for when management is out of line.
