Great Opportunity For Self Starters
Mar 5, 2023 - Senior Business Development Representative (BDR) in Carlsbad, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Ezoic is a great company to work for but you only get out what you put in. Especially in sales, there is a VERY VERY large gap in income between top performers and most rep. Most reps barely make 60K, but top performers can clear 100-150K. The commission and bonus structure is very incentivized to pay consistent performers who hit their targets more than 6 months a year and penalize inconsistency. This is not a job for people who need structure or like things done in a strict manner. There is also no such thing as clocking out. There are all kinds of obstacles that arise whenever and most of the top performers are working more than 40 hours a week. However, for self-starters, it's a great opportunity. If you are hitting target management does not care if you leave at noon or arrive at noon. You can take time off whenever and manage yourself as you, please. Awesome perk! For those who need external motivation, will not work outside hours, or are unwilling to adapt.... good luck. Other pros: - Food delivery MWF - Game room/on tap beer and snacks - Unlimited PTO (just make sure you are on top of your work before) - Leaders are patient and supportive - Culture is great
Cons
- Long hours - Can feel like you are doing 5 jobs in 1 sometimes - Job security doesn't exist - Executives are out of touch - Pay structure changes frequently

As of now, this place is a sinking ship.
Mar 24, 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Carlsbad, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The "perks" (when they are available). Namely, the "unlimited" PTO (which can be considered a red flag and inconsisently attained) and the flexible work schedules. Many different pods and managers will enforce arbitrary criteria for what's appropriate. Catered lunch MWF, insurance, snacks in the kitchen. There are some genuinely cool people who work here, but virtually none in management.
Cons
Read the other reviews on this page, especially if you're a prospective hire. I can assure you, without a doubt, that most of the negative-leaning reviews are fairly accurate. This place is a sinking ship. CFO gone with the wind. Wishy washy work location policies (huge push for RTO as of recent, probably looking for those disgruntled with the change to quit on their own). Changes in commission and comp plans because we're bleeding money (or "pushing for revenue" as management puts it). Along with all the other "startups" in the tech space, they got greedy in the COVID bubble and hired WAY too many people, ending in some brutal layoffs right before Christmas. Silent layoffs ensued week after week after the inital one. On the sales side, management implements useless "strategies" and attempt to "synergize" at face value to signal to their VCs that they're growing and innovating. Largely malarkey, and borderline counterproductive. Fix your tech: it breaks way too often on the consumer end, and we all know this is true.

Great until the layoffs
Mar 1, 2023 - Junior Devops Engineer in Carlsbad, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
A great environment which offers things like unlimited PTO. Basically free lunches from Foodja helps a lot. The ability to work from home is great. Coworkers and management are friendly.
Cons
Job security has been a concern lately, with recent layoffs and people being let go. Performance was cited as the reason for termination, but there was little communication beforehand, only a brief Slack message about engineers' time being valuable. The firing took place during a scheduled project meeting with HR and the CTO, which came as a surprise. Similar stories have been heard from former coworkers. HR encourages openness to new projects and ideas, but some employees feel constrained in their work. A personal project aimed at reducing dependency pull times was cancelled due to time constraints, leaving the employee with little else to work on.

Fun, supportive and flexible
Mar 24, 2023 - Senior Software Engineer in Carlsbad, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Policies are flexible and supportive. With Unlimited PTO and Flexible WFH policies you don't need permission to take care of life. Management is down-to-earth and available. The benefits are first class. Coworkers are helpful and approachable. The company strives to be as transparent as possible and encourages engagment. There is a game room, gym, full kitchen, and a lot of activities sprinkled through out the weeks to have a lot of extra fun at work.
Cons
San Diego is big so Carlsbad may be a commute (and you will want to be in the office with your co-workers often). No one is here to make sure things work out for you. After orientation, you are on your own in many ways. If you don't take initiative, don't ask questions, or avoid communication this is not the place for you. Essentialy your hand will not be held here.

Great culture with lots of opportunity.
Mar 23, 2023 - Business Development Representative in Carlsbad, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've been a BDR at Ezoic for nearly two years now, and I can honestly say that it's the best job I've ever had. The company culture and the opportunities it provides are simply unparalleled. While the workload can be a lot at times, I've enjoyed the opportunities to work on additional side projects and development my skills. The technical and data skills that I have developed are immensely valuable. As a salesperson, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of publishers and learn about their unique needs and challenges. The innovative technology that Ezoic provides have enabled me to make a real difference in their lives, which is extremely rewarding. I am proud to be part of the Ezoic family.
Cons
It's sales. It can be a grand and there are definitely ups and downs.

Avast Ye, Mateys: A Pirate's Tale of Tech Adventure
Mar 30, 2023 - Senior Software Engineer in Carlsbad, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Arrrr! Batten down the hatches and listen well, me hearties, as I recount me adventures aboard the good ship Ezoic, a swashbuckling tech company like no other. Me Captain, the fearless CTO Cap'n Codebeard, be a true leader, aye, and as stout-hearted as they come. The Ezoic crew be a motley bunch of developers, sales, and marketers, but by Davy Jones' locker, they be the finest in all the Seven Seas. The camaraderie be as strong as any pirate crew, and the thirst for treasure drives us to create software of exceptional quality. As for Cap'n Codebeard, he be a wise and experienced sea dog, navigating the treacherous waters of the tech world with unmatched skill. His vision and leadership be as clear as a spyglass, and he knows when to hoist the Jolly Roger and when to parley. The ship itself, the Ezoic office, be a wonder to behold. With standing desks like crow's nests and ergonomic chairs like the finest captain's quarters, the ship be a haven for both work and relaxation. The galley be stocked with grub and grog aplenty, keeping our spirits high during the long days and nights at sea. Under the watchful eye of Cap'n Codebeard, we've weathered many a storm and found great success on our voyages. The company culture be built on trust, speed, and a shared love for the open sea of innovation. We be constantly learning and growing, seeking to outwit our rivals and stay ahead in the game. In conclusion, me hearties, Ezoic be a fine vessel and a grand adventure for any pirate seeking to make their mark in the tech world. With the intrepid Cap'n Codebeard at the helm, we be unstoppable in our quest for treasure and innovation. So, if ye be brave enough to join our ranks, hoist the colors and set sail for a life of tech piracy with Ezoic. Yo ho, me hearties, yo ho!
Cons
Though the breakneck pace of plunderin' new tech might first seem a curse upon us, it be a blessin' in disguise, as it keeps us sharp and on the frontlines o' the tech seas, always learnin' and adaptin' to stay ahead of our rivals, arrr!

Fun culture, lack of transparency.
Mar 18, 2023 - Onboarding ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Amazing benefits included: Catered lunch, gym membership, fun working environment.
Cons
As another review stated, there does exist a major lack of diversity at Ezoic. There is very much a “type” or person that is hired; however, I don’t believe this is done intentionally. Unfortunately, as the title states, there is a major lack of transparency within the upper management. The CEO of the company plays favorites. If you’re in, you’re in. If you’re not, then your opinion doesn’t matter. When concerns about over hiring, and the current state of the economy was brought up to the CEO, we were assured our company was “ok”. After two major rounds of layoffs (the last of which was done quietly…ie not announced), the pride of leadership is proving to be a major downfall. This is very much a fun company to work for, however, I believe it’s not a safe bet for a long term career. While I enjoyed my time working at Ezoic, I now realize this is a slow burning ship.

Great place to build your skillsets and develop your career
Mar 6, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, but built on doing great work. There's a ton of autonomy so those who are self starters and entrepreneurial tend to do really well and are able to create opportunities for themselves. The companies growth has created a ton of career opportunities within teams as well as opening up doors for people to move around within the organization based on their career goals. The products deliver real world success to publishers which makes it easy to feel like you're having a positive impact in the work you do.
Cons
It does take a self starter and someone who values ownership to really thrive in the environment. If you need continued guidance or reassurance you may find it challenging unless you're open to asking for it.

Pros
-culture -innovative products - uncapped commission
Cons
- poor resource allocation - much differentiation for low added value
