I have been working at F.H. Furr full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have been with F.H. Furr for over a year and have been consistently impressed with the professionalism and integrity of the organization. Furr cares about their employees AND customers, and showcases this in upholding a clearly defined set of Core Values that focus on a commitment to training & professional development, social responsibility, and ethical behavior. The company has shown me nothing but consistent follow through, and have set clear expectations for performance across the board. They pay well for all roles in our region, and expect employees to meet the high standards that we set in serving each other and our community. Overall, I have been very happy with my move to F.H. Furr and they have succeeded in fully engaging me as an employee.

    Cons

I don't have too many complaints about the company or culture. If you are willing to put in the work that is asked of you and aren't afraid to ask for guidance when it is needed, you tend to be successful at Furr. The only thing I would recommend is enhancing some of the more dated benefits packages such as vacation vs. sick leave or the 401K matching.

First off, thank you for taking time to leave some feedback even though I hate seeing that you wouldn't recommend coming to work at Furr. The weekly pay is nice, but definitely doesn't offset the issues that you're indicating you have with management. My door is wide open downstairs and I'd like you to feel comfortable talking with myself or any member of our Human Resources team. Any feedback given is completely confidential unless you give me permission to take it up the chain of command. The only way we can effect change is if we hear about issues our employees are facing. Please reach out.

I worked at F.H. Furr full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The health insurance wasn’t bad. They sometimes would do nice things for the employees.

    Cons

Where would i start with my reasons why: The management and ownership of the company is the worst i have ever worked for. The lack of empathy ,straight hypocrisy and favoritism that i witnessed there is unreal. I don’t know how many times i caught my paychecks being wrong, and being told that because of minor errors i get my Bonus money taken. There is no perk to working for this company. There is no real room for growth- the turnover rate speaks volumes for itself!! Why would so many people quit, walk out or be let go under weird circumstances? The customers even know the place sucks as I’m sure is seen on other posts. We cannot hardly take bathroom breaks - once my boss stood in the doorway and tried to prevent me from leaving the room to pee. They take our lunch breaks away with no notice sometimes, and do not honor commitments made, but expect others and us to follow there’s. People have walked out crying and management will not even make contact. The place has made at least 3 people have anxiety or panic attacks. The most toxic, work environment i have ever had. Wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to work there.

I have been working at F.H. Furr full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Steadyish work, You can make good money, paid weekly.

    Cons

They are more concerned about how well technicians can sale accessories than their actual technical abilities. Their "Training" is an 8 hour class compressed down to 45 min to an hour. It is there for show only. They will dedicate hours on end trying to make service techs in to sales men. There is zero loyalty to long tem employees. Your ability to fix issues and customers comes second to selling them stuff or offering cleanings they may or may not need. The COO has told people they can't be a saleman because "I don't think you can look in a customers eyes and lie" this is starting to apply to service techs Now, if you have that ability to lie to a customer you can make large amounts of money and be treated like royalty. If your goal is to be a service tech and do what is best for the customer. You can make Ok money and be treated like you are a failure. I will never fault a company from wanting to make a profit. I will do so if it is done with underhand tactics and hard selling people.

    October 2, 2019Human Resources Manager

First off, thanks for taking time to leave us some feedback. I'd love to discuss your review in person if you are interested in reaching out to me. You can reach me by email at jmeans@fhfurr.com. I find it hard to believe that anyone has heard something such as you described, come out of our COO's mouth. Honesty and Integrity are two very important values that we uphold at F.H. Furr and when we discover technicians not meeting our expectations in those regards, then we move on from them. In our business, fixing issues is definitely a major function of technician's jobs, but finding solutions for potential problems and educating our customers on corrective options is an equally important function. Hate to hear that you or other employees feel like you're treated like a failure if you're not hitting your goals. Please get with me if you are truly interested in furthering this discussion. I can't promise that anything will change, but myself and our leadership team do value feedback like this from employees and if there is an area that needs correction, we will take action. Thanks again for putting your thoughts into words!
