I have been working at FAA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

As aviation enthusiast and pilot, a great place to work on and with computers (software engineering).

    Cons

Current immediate management and higher management seems to want to move away from the actual in-house software engineering (development) and contract outside companies.

    Advice to Management

Management should obtain a much better understanding of what their employees are about and what they are capable of doing, then leverage them properly or aide them to move to a 'silo' where they can perform better.
Management should move towards promoting/rewarding employees by performance instead of by tenure and who is friends with who.

    Pros

Atmosphere is great, people I work with are great, boss is amazing. If you have an electononics background, especially in air field equipment, then this job is for you.

    Cons

None that I can think of off the top of my head, but being a jobs serving the public and aviation as a whole, there is a lot of paperwork and beauocoracy.

    Advice to Management

    Hire people with expierence.

    Pros

    It's a job with a constant paycheck.

    Cons

Strict hours, managers can be overbearing. Everything wrong with equipment is the fault of the ATSS, even when it's user error from the ATCs.

    Advice to Management

Respect the fact it takes years for a tech to become fully qualified while it only takes 1 years for an ATC. Driving on an active airfield is equally stressful as landing aircraft.
