I worked at FANDOM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance is good and location is good

    Cons

Odd people, old tech, you have to be REALLY into comics or cosplay to love this place. Honestly it feels like your customers are shut-ins and you're not changing the world for the better....

I worked at FANDOM full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Everybody is talented and friendly. Working on movies, TV and games is always so fun.

    Cons

The investors are pulling the rug from under employees constantly and direction is all over the place. They dismissed so many great people only to re-hire for the same positions again. No 401k match. Office space is crammed.

I have been working at FANDOM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you're a straight white man you have a great chance of success at Fandom.

    Cons

Company is moving to a mostly contractor model so they can pay below market and save money on benefits. They don't care about employee growth or long term success. Board of directors and 95% of senior management are straight white men. They pay lip service to diversity but make no actual commitments to it.

I worked at FANDOM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - An incredible platform full of passionate audiences across gaming and entertainment - Working close with popular culture is a blast - Tons of opportunity to get involved in areas outside of your expertise (will need to take your own initiative) - Very compatible with remote work - TGP seems committed to reversing years of bad company leadership and decision making.

    Cons

    - No 401 matching - Several layoffs since 2016, many of the longtime mid to upper leadership have left on their own or been replaced. - The editorial platform still lacks a genuine voice and gets lost among a sea of other sites. - Recent acquisitions (Curse, Screen Junkies) seem more about cost-cutting and repairing broken user trust than the growth of the company. - Years of horrendous decisions such as implementing auto-playing video, unpopular design/product updates, and over-emphasis on editorial have left a majority of the userbase feeling alienated (which has resulted in key communities moving to different wiki hosts)

    Pros

WIKIA was great. FANDOM is a joke.

    Cons

    - FANDOM has been laying people off every year for months since 2016. - The company has no idea what it wants to be or who it is anymore for that matter. - They try to hunt down Glassdoor reviewers. - The current interim CEO is a liar and a joke. No seriously. During these layoffs our team was twice told by the CEO that we were it. We were the teams he saw leading FANDOM into it's dwindling future. - TPG is a joke. - There is NO loyalty left at FANDOM. It's just a bunch of "YES" men hoping to not get laid off.

I have been working at FANDOM full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you are a friend of the interim ceo, who’s so annoying and has no way to relating to normal people, you get taken care of. Snacks are a plus.

    Cons

Complete uncertainty and secret meetings make morale really bad. TPG fired the ceo after three weeks after the purchase. They made it seem like he left of his own choosing but he was fired. Trust me. They’ve brought in an interim ceo from TPG who so badly wants the permanent job but won’t admit it. They want us to care about the communities, but they are developing a community of staff who are afraid of losing their jobs. TPG moles embedded at the office have no idea how to run a company and how to build anything that is sustainable. Just look at the profile of the interim ceo. All he’s done is run companies into the ground. I have no idea how or why TPG is trusting him with all of this. He’s running fandom into the ground. They just care about saving money by laying off employees. They have no understanding of the meaning of mentoring and being loyal to people.
