I worked at FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has a lot of resources and you have the opportunity to work with industry experts

    In general:
    -Laid Back
    -Friendly
    -Interesting Travel

    Cons

-The management structure is a bit overbearing
-Lots of people following "standard" practices that have no idea why they are in place
-To many engineers for the amount of work to be done

    Advice to Management

-Stop wasting your employees time using outdated systems, invest more in the computer systems
-Probably fire ~1/5 of the people

    Pros

fun products to work on and there are some good people. not a company for a car person....better company for a program manager

    Cons

to much process paperwork. don't get the a big part of the project. no training is given they throw you into the fire

    Advice to Management

I would recommend a training program for new employees that have certain process learned before they start working in the engineering field

I worked at FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Normal business hours and decent cafeteria.

    Cons

Nothing is organized. Since 2017 FCA has had (3) CIO's in charge of IT planning and execution. Over the 2 years I was there the where multiple top down initiatives. Plan Build Run, lasted not even 12 months. ICT GO re-organization in 2017 that fell flat on becoming a global IT company. Last, cloud deployments started in spring of 2017 scraped in late 2017 because of costs? Makes no sense, and hence very few apps deployed in cloud AWS.
Last the most egregious is that the only keep contract folks one for a calendar year and needs to be re-approved by CIO. No one tells you that when you get a job on contract. You find out in December who will be let go. It is not based on performance but merely trying to hit a number. Perfect example is pulling out of cloud deployments after 11 months of work? Thousands of dollars were wasted by the cloud team thinking they would deploy apps over the Xmas holiday.
There is no managing to a margin or schedule because that is not valued? Last, beware that if you look do something to upset a blue badge(FTE) you don't have a chance of succeeding even though the issues are true and valid and maybe even costly. With about 40% contract work I wanted to post this review so that others don't waste their time.

    Advice to Management

Have a plan. Quit moving positions around each year. The productivity losses of huge. Treat you contractors with some level of respect as they make up a very large group that helps to deliver these poorly planned projects.
FTE employees & managers drop the sarcastic quote "living the dream" fix something instead of always having an excuse!

I have been working at FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedules with work from home available in certain departments. Good benefits even though employee costs and deductibles continue to rise annually. Employee discount on vehicle pricing. Profit sharing when we are successful.

    Cons

Terrible parking (far from entrances). There is literally not enough parking spaces during periods when the majority aren’t scheduling vacation (full capacity early in the year but better during high vacation periods like spring break or mid summer). Not enough office space. Some areas are shifting to work pods with people grouped together and away from individual work stations. Very noisy with some suites having no partitions at all. Even in suites having cubicle walls you can hear multiple conversations going on constantly. If you have a cougher or throat clearer a row over, you might as well be sitting in their lap since nothing is muffled. The performance appraisal process is absolutely horrible. Job satisfaction heavily related to who your manager is.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to areas with high employee turnover under a given manager.
