Great place to work if you're an hourly union employee, a nightmare for management!
Oct 28, 2013 - Production Supervisor in Detroit, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Excellent salary and benefits including medical, dental, company car lease program, peers and locations throughout Michigan and other states.
Cons
Work Life Balance does not exist, mandatory overtime and comp time (work without being paid) for salary employees. Hostile work environment for managers built of overbearing executives that try to exert fear to get employees to perform. Very stressful dealing with union and management. Male dominated culture. No concern for your personal career goals, managers will block lateral moves and promotions. I was punished for being a competent and good leader by being blocked from several promoting opportunities by my manager and the plant manager. I was told I was too good to let go!

Maintenance, machine repair, machinist
Apr 21, 2017 - Machine Repairman in Kokomo, INRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good pay, lots of overtime when sales are good. 4x10 work schedule is great for those with enough seniority to hold day shift. World Class Manufacturing principles are having a positive impact in the operations and work environment. the opportunity to work on and learn a large variety of machine types
Cons
Alternate Work Schedule; 4 days of 10 hours, not family friendly for low seniority workers who are on the off shifts or nights. Forced overtime can further interfere with a balanced life.

Toledo Assembly Complex
Oct 15, 2020 - Former Salaried Staff Member in Toledo, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Exponential learning potential, challenging problems, great health & retirement benefits, company vehicle program, strong efforts to protect employees during covid pandemic, leadership development, the chance to see two Jeep vehicles being built from body shop through assembly lines, overtime pay, some good people to work with.
Cons
The number #1 fallback of this complex is the rather aggressive and appalling leadership style displayed by plant senior leadership towards salaried staff. Very high turnover rate in production supervision & engineering departments; not as much in hourly workforce due to union protections. Insurmountable workload assigned to continuously decreasing salaried workstaff. Very fast paced work environment with no true training on specific job functions for new employees (sink or swim environment). Long dreadful hours; sometimes mandated on weekends (including sundays). No annual salary increase. Performance evaluations (tied to annual bonus) is biased. Overtime for salaried staff is straight time after 45hrs (professional level) & 50hrs (mid-professional & above). High unethical and disturbing behavior displayed by plant leadership especially within production group. A lot of direction given makes no sense. A very 'Chuck said' workplace. Lower level employees assigned large amounts of work while floor managers play on their phones or drive around doing nothing productive but will get in your face & aggressively question why something is not done. This is a crazy and toxic place to work and I would not recommend to anyone looking for a work/life balance.

Pros
Open door management style and hence team environment makes this a good place to work. There are opportunities to work in numerous areas of engineering, marketing, and manufacturing.
Cons
The lack of direction by senior management was the reason I left in November of 2008. That may have changed with the new management.
