    Pros

Great environment, FCCI treats you like a person instead of just a number. Managers seek your input on department level issues and there's a real sense of collaboration to get the job done. There's a real family atmosphere here. The benefits are way above what you would expect of a company this size. They pay and provide benefits at a level that suggests they hope you'll stay until retirement. The number of employees that have been here for more than 10 years is well more than half. The interview process is absolutely epic in scope and time, but they're looking for employees that will fit the very best with the company. If you're offered a position you will definitely love it here, if not, you probably wouldn't have.

    Cons

If you haven't worked in this industry before, the subject matter can be daunting. If you're the type that likes to have regular feedback on your performance, you might get frustrated.

    Advice to Management

More regular feedback on performance would be nice!

I have been working at FCCI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

On site gym & cafe. Continuing education is reimbursed. Friendly employees.

    Cons

Micro-management of long term employees. Management has the wrong people in the wrong seats on the bus. Minimal performance increases based on boilerplate annual reviews. HR is reactive. Turnover is affecting the end product being provided to our agents. Family atmosphere is long gone & employees are stressed ourt to the max.

    Advice to Management

Bottom line profitability is important & absolutely necessary to run a company. Please stop presenting the current company climate as a cohesive family unit, those days ended when G.W. Jacobs retired.

I worked at FCCI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, medical, vacation and bonuses are awesome but not worth what you have to put up with! Management expects 24/7

    Cons

Unless you're in the click or blonde and a size 2 forget about going anywhere! Work life balance is horrible!

    Advice to Management

Get a clue. Stop being fake and pretending you care!

I have been working at FCCI (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and great salary. Promites the wellness program. Has a gym and cafeteria. Gives away turkeys at Thanksgiving

    Cons

Poor underwriting leadership. Underwriting leaders are intimidating snd insulting. The directors are not empowered to make decisions. Does not allow for diversity. No room for error. Excellence is ignored, while small mistakes are exaggerated.stressful work environment. Work/life balance is nonexistent.

    Advice to Management

Encourage and lead by positive reinforcement. Intimidation is not effective. Encourage employees to identify their individual strengths and work with employees to improve upon those strengths. Recognize that their are differences in personality, race, and culture and allow diversification. Consider the safety of employees, particularly those who work late into the evening or travelling daily.

I have been working at FCCI full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Gym, cafe, 6 to 9% bonus.

    Cons

Managers not only get paid more, they get 15% bonus
Promotions come by politics, not merit
During reviews managers focus on petty things and hammer you down for making mistakes.
1 mistake in 1 day will be on your review for the year, regardless if the other 364 days were great.
FCCI designates pots for each department, some departments are known for managers getting together and deciding who gets what type of raise before reviews are completed. Raises are low if you dont play into their politics
Some managers are at odds with one another, no communication
No diversity. FCCI is mainly white and want to keep it that way.
After years of merit, still no promotion while other people with friends in high places quickly climb the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone equally. Give fair raises all around. Dont show prejudice and promote diversification. Dont focus on negatives during a 1 hour review, instead focus on encouraging and promoting good performances.
    And theres always karma...

    I worked at FCCI full-time

    Pros

Work / Life Balance. They gave away turkeys to every employee at Thanksgiving. Strong community involvement. Onsite gym and cafe.

    Cons

Executive Management and work / life balance. People spent too much time at the gym, left early. Ultra competitive against each other, not against their real competitors. Definitely an "I" organization vs a "we". No substantive metrics or desire for continuous improvement. Too many "friends of the CEO" promoted to executive positions w/out credentials.

    Advice to Management

    Move on
