I have been working at FDA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Always challenging, always learning and expanding skill set. Great group of very dedicated people.

    Cons

Change is slow to come as large institutions are not very nimble. However, efficiencies are being identified and implemented at a faster rate now.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees on the ground.

I have been working at FDA (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good work environment, good compensation,

    Cons

I didn't get the maternity leave. Also, some other cons of working as ORISE is that you don't get benefits and get less opportunity to attend regulatory workshops (due to low priority in the waiting list)

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at FDA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a paycheck and route to get a federal job

    Cons

Workload is heavy and unrealistic expectations for project managers. Project managers are expected to be full time secretaries and also be "regulatory experts" by working weekends. Most people are trying to get out but have to wait through the hiring freeze with federal government.

    Advice to Management

Phd does not spell management talent.

I have been working at FDA (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is a real connection with the public health mission, a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere considering the amount of doctors, scientists, and legal professionals employed by the agency, and my colleagues have a genuine passion for the work they do.

    Cons

Can get political at times, leadership isn't as innovative as the staff, it is a government agency so approvals and decisions tend to be slow, and the promotion/incentive policy is bureaucratic you have to wait one year before you can move to the next pay grade if your job has a promotion scale.

    Advice to Management

Leverage public private partnerships to keep up with industry standards, learn how to better engage millennials, and do a better job of grooming diverse employees for leadership roles.
