I have been working at FGI full-time

    Pros

    Autonomy, work/life balance, compelling work

    Cons

Small business, so a different experience than working for a large company.

I worked at FGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You feel important because you work next to Wall Street...

    Cons

Where do I even begin... stay away from this boiler room company at all costs. They are internally cannibalizing all talent that walks in that door. The company itself hired me under the assumption that they needed a "collateral analyst" on the financial operations team. Little did I know, that after two weeks once I have caught the company up to speed on administrative and small technical work, that they had no need for me. They hired me to essentially use me, waste my time & money. The company culture is a joke, there actually is none, and the employee's seem very distant, and always irritated. I am actually glad that they "no longer had any work for me" due to the fact that the position was a dead end and was not benefiting my long term career goals. Also I would like to add, there seems to be little to no room for advancement within the company. If you are looking for a company to start your financial career, look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together and don't hire people you don't have a actual need for. You're wasting the time of potentially great talent, and it makes your company look horrible, check the reviews.

    FGI Response

FGI regrets that there appears to have been a misunderstanding in the employee’s expectations in regards to the duration of this role. The candidate was placed with FGI specifically by an agency that... More

I worked at FGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No micromanagement, nice offices and location. Normal 9-5 just get your work done.

    Cons

Where do I begin? To say this place is unprofessional would be an understatement. First of all management is very shallow with appearance. Women MUST wear heels-IS THIS LEGAL? They pride themselves in employing "good looking people". They always talk about "open door policy", and "SUPER open communication" but this is not true. If they do not like you, you are out without a warning AT ALL. They are very kind to your face but it is all fake. The interview process was a breeze! Questions were so easy to answer, "How do you stay organized?", "How do you remain proactive?" The people who interview you are totally irrelevant since they are not the ones who decide you are not fit for the position. It truly makes no sense. Place is like a library, you can hear someone breathe.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example. Don't ask people to look and behave a certain way when you do not. I know you pay attention to this website it was mentioned while I worked there so WAKE UP! Do you not see all the negative reviews?

    Pros

Strong performers get rewarded well. Not much training is offered, but there is a weekly discussion session that sets a direction for everybody which really helps.

    Cons

Cannot work at your own pace. They literally need to see you concentrating on something on your desk for as long as you are in office. Not much bigger career opportunities as it is still a small company.

I have been working at FGI full-time

    Pros

FGI is a great place to work. The work atmosphere is very comfortable, everyone is very easy to get along with, the office is beautiful, and the work day goes by very quickly since there is always plenty of work to do.

    Cons

Its difficult to think of something negative to say about FGI. Its very fact pace so it may seem very challenging to some people.

I have been working at FGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

FGI has a very fast paced work environment which makes days go by quickly and ensures that there is never a boring day. The insurance package is unbelievably exceptional. The people at this company are easy to work with and the company focuses on collaborative efforts. There are a lot of opportunities for moving up from within the company, and FGI offers the tools for training within the industry. I also love the location; it's a great office space in the financial district with large windows and decently sized work spaces.

    Cons

It's difficult to come up with cons for working for FGI. The environment at times can be a little too fast paced and can feel a little overwhelming. The dress code can appear to be inconsistent.

    Advice to Management

    Casual Fridays.
    Discounted gym memberships.
Keep a close eye on employees to ensure that nobody is being overworked and that work can be evenly distributed.
