I have been working at FHLB Dallas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The bank's lean in group is the most amazing opportunity that I have ever had. The bank's executive who is running the group truly cares about each and every employee in the group. She is spot-on when it comes to listening and career advice.

    Cons

We need more networking opportunities with coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Keep the lean in group longer then a year. It's forging relationships that are changing the Bank for the better! I used to complain about work life balance but after my lean in group discussed how you should manage your energy, it really changed my outlook. I can't say enough good things about my lean in group. The leader has got me thinking in a way that I never thought possible.

I worked at FHLB Dallas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Bank is being transformed by the new management team. A lot of effort is being expended to change the culture. Quality of life is now a concern and providing a healthy and mentally engaging environment is the new target.

    Cons

Changing a long-established corporate culture is hard work. Some of these efforts have not been sufficiently thought through prior to execution and have produced wasted effort. For example, corporate training without sufficient follow through afterward provides very few results for the time invested.

    Advice to Management

Create and communicate a 3-5 year vision for the corporate culture then aggressively execute as has been done for the business objectives.

I have been working at FHLB Dallas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are incredible. The 401k matching is one like I have never seen. The medical, dental and vision coverage is top notch but very inexpensive to the employee.

    Cons

It is extremely fast paced, so you have to be ready to wear many hats. Due to the size of the bank being very small each employee is expected to stretch themselves daily.

I have been working at FHLB Dallas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are looking for a fast paced, challenging environment that looks for individuals who like to do good in their communities and want to pursue growth, this is your company! The company had spent a lot of time this year identifying their values and expanding their brand. Diversity and Inclusion have become a positive message to the staff. A very employee centric company.

    Cons

Not a lot of upward mobility. The company does allow for professional development and training opportunities that allows you to expand outwards.

    Advice to Management

With the high demand of time create a way to better forge home and work. There really is no such thing as work/life balance, but giving employees the opportunity to blend work and home.

    Pros

Company moves at a fast pace. Great place to learn. Benefits and pay are good. Company is currently rebuilding its business capabilities. Great support from CEO.

Pace is extremely fast requiring a strong commitment, including hours, from employees

I worked at FHLB Dallas (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits exspecially medical benefits. Great holiday and vacation time. The president is a great guy and I worked with some great people.

    Cons

There is no food nearby so I would say terrible location. It's hard to get off certain holiday as it seems to go by seniority or tradition. Long hours expected to meet goal not necessarily on the clock as well as on call.

    Advice to Management

Show your employees appreciation and treat with respect.
