    Pros

Great place. Competitive pay and amazing benefits. GSE so long average tenure. Just like any place some management is subpar and some are excellent.

    Cons

There are No real telecommuting options. Somewhat behind in technology. Can be somewhat Slow in upward movement as well. Still above average.

I have been working at FHLBank Atlanta full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and compensation. Good location in mid-town and free on-site parking. Lower and mid-level employees work well together. Most employees have banker's hours (e.g. 9 to 5 Mon-Fri).

    Cons

Benefits and company structure have made the bank very top-heavy, creating log-jams for more junior employees that want to grow and develop. GSE creates a government-style mentality among many departments (e.g. silos and fiefdoms). Very weak culture. Telecommuting and other perks are available but frowned upon by senior "old-school" management.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and fix the culture with authenticity. Support a more progressive work environment to attract and RETAIN quality junior employees.

I have been working at FHLBank Atlanta full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, job security, and challenging responsibilities. Provides a great opportunity for personal career development.

    Cons

Above average bureaucratic complexities with in the bank. Although not very easy; there is opportunity to advance.

    Advice to Management

Increase overall communication to middle management and staff employees. Create more opportunities for advancement.

I have been working at FHLBank Atlanta full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The location, benefits and pay is acceptable. One of the few companies that offer free parking in Midtown.

    Cons

Management is horrible and the bank is doing nothing about it. Have managers in positions that have no clue about the department. At this present time, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

    Advice to Management

You need to pay attention to employee moral and listen to why people are leaving the bank. We are loosing great people.

I worked at FHLBank Atlanta (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Many community involvement opportunities.
Amenities such as on site gym, cafeteria, and dry-cleaning services.
    Reasonable compensation and benefits.
    Wealth of industry knowledge available.

    Cons

Lack of communication between senior executives and department staff.
Department goals are very ambitions and shareholder driven.
    High turnover in some departments.

    Advice to Management

Increase the amount of time senior level executives and managers engage with department staff and provide feedback.

    Provide more off-site company activities.

    Pros

A great location in the city to work.

    Cons

Leadership is image driven because many lack education beyond the high school level. Very poor training tactics. Managers have been there so long that they are uncomfortable with change, and lack knowledge in benchmarking. The African American managers are the most racist.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of the tuition reimbursement. Education, experience, and change makes effective leaders, not hiding behind the years you've worked there.
