      Pros

Not bad benefits, could be better but not bad Not too bad vacation, even when starting out.

      Cons

Pay increases are a joke, as a software developer, I have no incentive to stay for any extended amount of time Communication from senior management is abysmal, they’ve been told they need to work on it for three years, and all they’ve done is put up a social web site that just contains crafted internal releases, rather than actual communication. My org or orgs close to me have been in constant reorganization for the past year. Apparently, this is a little high, but par for the course. Constantly doing company wide re-orgs while trying to maintain existing/new development is getting ridiculous.

If you have a good manager, the experience will be great. If you have a bad manager, the experience will be awful!

Employees rarely recognized while benefits and salary are mediocre

      Pros

Great experience from a systems perspective; due to numerous acquisitions over the last several years, FIS operates multiple accounting systems. Employees have stock options. Hours can be flexible for those not in management; okay work-life balance.

      Cons

Benefits continue to get worse each year, especially medical benefits. For a Fortune 500 company, one would think the company would offer better benefits to its employees. Very limited mobility to get promoted from within; if you are more knowledgeable than your manager, you are viewed as a threat. HR will always support management regardless of how inappropriate decisions made by senior management may be, not worth taking the time to address your concerns with them. Increases are laughable, corporate standard 2% in 2011, which is always based on a bell curve and formulated so that no one ever “exceeds expectations.” Employees participate in quarterly meetings where the CFO talks about how well the company is doing and how FIS is #1 in the industry. Ironically, just before raises were given this year, the CEO gave a speech about how important the employees are, as if that was going to soften the blow. The company operates too many accounting systems, and very little has been done over the last three years since the merger with Metavante, to consolidate those systems and branding continues to be inconsistent. Legacy Metavante employees act and behave as though they are working for a smaller company and forget that we are all one company; the mentality of employees is very narrow and they forget we are a company with 30K employees. Business units operate as if they are separate from FIS and Sales runs the show; they are not required to adhere to company policies and procedures or very little is being done to address the inconsistencies.

After 30 years of service, this company has drastically changed, some changes for the better, some for the worst.

      Pros

Well known company rated #1 in it's class. Appears to be doing well and stock is up.

      Cons

Way too big of a company. My opinion is that the company grew faster than senior management and services could keep up. There are several areas of the company that are severly struggling becase of the tremendously fast growth and client expectations increasing. Clients today are very well educated, have exceedingly high expectatiions and are not afraid to push and/or escalate to get what the want. It can be very challenging working with clients when the company is struggling with growth.

      Pros

Management in my department is good. They do their best to accommodate employees and try to make FIS a reasonable place to work

      Cons

For years - there have been no employee bonuses, cut backs in benefits - promotion freezes, pay freezes. What raises that have occurred have been very small. Management keeps telling the work force about how great the company is doing and how it is all because of the employees. The employees get nothing, while senior management gets millions of dollars in compensation.
