I have been working at FLEX by Fenwick part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flex is a tough outfit to join. They're very picky about who they bring in. But it's also one of the most professional and friendly legal organizations around. Period.

A world-class bevy of clients - often the same as the parent.

Flex also has a daily vs. hour billing model, which allows the Flex attorney to better match variations in the work schedule of the host company without prior approval (within reason of course).

Flex is the only vendor that provides access to Practicing Law Institute online CLE courses, which by itself is worth several $K.

And the "Fenwick" name carries some weight on a resume.

    Cons

The secondment model, like any other outsourcing model, tends to be unpredictable - feast or famine. It's good to have other sources of income.

    Advice to Management

None. I've been very pleased so far.

I have been working at FLEX by Fenwick full-time

    Pros

    - Get to work with Fenwick clients that you wouldn't normally get the opportunity to work with.
    - Everyone on FLEX team is a lawyer, so they understand the space and can thoughtfully talk your questions and concerns out with you.
    - Get access to Fenwick resources when working with a client.
    - Flexible lifestyle.

    Cons

    - Change in management, so there’s some change, but change is good.
    - May be some lag time between engagements, but that’s inevitable with the consulting lifestyle.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

    Pros

Small, tight knit team that consists of hard working and accomplished individuals. Since the team is so small, each person plays an integral role in the success of the company. The cozy size and great team dynamic makes us nimble and very quick to respond to client requests. We really get and understand each client’s needs, and it’s rewarding to be able to mobilize to custom fit and meet each need. The team is diverse, collaborative and has a great sense of humor.

    Cons

The business has grown tremendously over the past couple years, but the head count remains the same. Hopefully there will be new additions to the team to help relieve the workload and create new opportunities.

I have been working at FLEX by Fenwick full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

FLEX is focused on providing a high quality service to attorneys and clients alike. We take pride in the attorneys we recruit and the companies we partner with. The model is innovative, smart and to put it simply, very cool. The team is dynamic and talented, with a hint of quirkiness, and heaps of humor.

    Cons

Like most people who are dedicated to their work... it's often hard to unplug.

    Pros

Small, close-knit team, [all] of whom are trained as lawyers and understand the unique challenges that attorneys – whether at law firms or in-house – face. It’s also very helpful to have the full backing of an top-tier law firm as the company continues to embark in a unique space within the legal industry. Finally, the team truly cares about the success of the company, its individual team members, the clients, and the attorneys working for FLEX. This unique combination allows for FLEX to create a positive, collegial and encouraging environment for all involved.

    Cons

There has been a recent change in the leadership to which the team is becoming accustomed. Although there are no guarantees, I am optimistic that FLEX will only improve with faster adoptions of new business approaches and more diversity in management styles while maintaining the high quality level behind the brand.

I have been working at FLEX by Fenwick full-time

    Pros

Great team work and collaboration with a small but solid team. Love working with each FLEX staff member—very cool, smart and high energy in getting things done. Feels good to be working in an environment where everyone takes the time, energy and personalized care into each FLEX attorney hire and client need. Most impressed with the customized match-making and ownership taken upon by each team member to achieve win-win’s for the attorney and client. A great work environment balance of not taking ourselves seriously but taking our jobs at FLEX very seriously.

    Cons

FLEX needs to do a better job tooting its horn and being absolutely shameless about its awesome culture and mission. FLEX is a real good thing for the changes already happening in the legal industry and profession. No commitment required (for those that are not flexible and don’t like options).
