I have been working at FLIR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company pay and commission are pretty good, it does offer pretty good benefits.
The facilities are all pretty good and up to date, some offer gyms and cafeterias.

    Cons

The company runs very lean on personnel so you end up working 65-70 hour work weeks which does not help with family life.

    Advice to Management

    Better advancement opportunities

I have been working at FLIR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and flexible work schedule. Autonomy to do job and make decisions about my work.

FLIR really cares about their employees health and wellbeing. They provide added benefits with onsite gyms, fitness subsidies, and wellness resources in addition to comprehensive health insurance.

    Cons

Limited headcount and expected to do several jobs. Complex company structure with several business units which can make it challenging to navigate within FLIR.

    Advice to Management

Look at a staffing models before you lose key employees. We provide an amazing product but burnout is inevitable at the rate we are growing if we don't allocate additional resources.

I have been working at FLIR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work we do is interesting, the product we make is cool, and the people who use it in the field are grateful. Overall, FLIR is a great place to work.

    Cons

As with many older companies, FLIR struggles with systems that were put in place a long time ago and updated repeatedly over time. This can lead to difficult to resolve gaps in various processes. Most of this is overcome by having a lot of talented co-workers.

    Advice to Management

Push down time allocation for long term improvement projects.

I have been working at FLIR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, everybody really wants to help each other. One of the few companies that I have been at where everyone has the same goal.

    Cons

Segmented business units, with separate hierarchy tends to be prohibitive for scaling the business.

    Advice to Management

Continue to push, when someone stumbles let them know, and discuss what went wrong and why.

I worked at FLIR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent advanced IR technology product line and training. Involvement with all levels of professional personnel and opportunity to use products.

    Cons

Department I was working in was dissolved. Products not being sold with pertinent attention to needs of specific industrial segments.

    Advice to Management

More frequent training sessions at lower cost to promote the use of your products by certified operators and seed demand for further sales. Use by noncertified users can undermine the reputation of iR thermography by resulting in inaccurate evaluations or worse.

I have been working at FLIR (More than a year)

    Pros

FLIR is a great company to work at. The teams are small and the work is engaging. The location is great. There's a lot going on.

    Cons

The company is still growing. I'd like to see how the company defines its workflow as it moves into a consumer market with FLIR ONE

I have been working at FLIR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours. Good/great upper and lower management. Supervisors are willing to work with you if there are conflicts in your schedule or personal life. Lead/Supervisor are open to ideas or improvements in work flow process (they ask for your opinion and what can make it better). Team collective, not individuals. Lots and lots of products at a great discount!

    Cons

Unavailability of parts leads to 6+ months of down time. Engineering support for older products. Some management level personnel hiring upper echelon's family member with zero experience to benefit their career instead of hiring the right candidate to benefit the company as a whole. Blatant favoritism is seen towards this individual. Besides that great company overall.

    Advice to Management

Do the right thing and stop brown nosing!
