I have been working at FMC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I received a decent bonus this year.

    Cons

Too many meeting, overly concerned with hitting numbers, not driving the business or making sound business decisions. No concern for employees or positive moral in company.

    Advice to Management

Look to the outside for hiring instead of constantly hiring from within, internal hires lack drive, decision making abilities, only interested in politics.

I have been working at FMC full-time

    Pros

Great to work at this financially well-performing Fortune 1000 company and have a real impact shaping its future. Although conservative the way many chemical companies are, there is genuine support for strategies and initiatives to generate shareholder value in ways beyond traditional financial measures.

    Cons

Like it is at many U.S. publicly-traded companies, short-term financial performance reigns supreme. This can manifest in an all-hands-on-deck mentality to meet the quarter, even if it negatively impacts focus and investment into longer-term activities that could lead to greater growth and sustainability.

    Advice to Management

Dedicate resources, both human and financial, that can't be touched to meet quarterly earning, to create short and long-term customer value beyond the intrinsic value of our products, to help manage volatility in cyclical markets and the commoditization of the core.

    I worked at FMC

    Pros

Location is good. Easy to coast because it is a mess internally. Not too hard to be a star.

    Cons

The company is falling apart from the inside and senior management has been either ignoring the issue or ineffective at managing it. Top talent is fleeing and there is serious retention issues. Standard internal processes are breaking down (IT support, Payroll calculations, etc.) because everyone is stretched far too thin. The culture emphasizes individuality at the expense of the group so there is aggression, self-serving...

I worked at FMC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Strong diversification of portfolio and geography should help company weather current market and currency downturns. Strategic and tactical vision is relatively stable and well communicated. Contributors in my department were recognized and well rewarded. There was a strong sense of community.

    Cons

No significant cons, other than necessary reactions to some unfavorable market conditions.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. Continue to make the difficult decisions in response to the market. You'll emerge a leaner and stronger organization.

I have been working at FMC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Market-focused company with strong portfolio and geographical diversification due to recent acquisition should help company weather current market and currency downturns. Good ethical employees who work hard.

    Cons

No significant Cons. FMC is currently focused a great deal on integrating the new acquired company into the Agricultural business as well as overcoming the current market and currency downturn, which means that there is less emphasis on its other business lines and people. Career progression is slow, but hard work and good results are recognized by the team and management.

    Advice to Management

Provide clear guidance to employees through difficult times is of the utmost importance to keep people focused on the work and reduce potential brain loss.

I have been working at FMC for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good ethical employees who work hard. Customer-focused company. Recent acquisition should lead to geographic diversity.

    Cons

Lots of change in past 2-3 years leading to burnout.

    Advice to Management

Now that the company is more of an agricultural business versus diversified employees feel less certain. Management needs to clarify the new direction.
