I have been working at FMC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I received a decent bonus this year.

    Cons

Too many meeting, overly concerned with hitting numbers, not driving the business or making sound business decisions. No concern for employees or positive moral in company.

    Advice to Management

Look to the outside for hiring instead of constantly hiring from within, internal hires lack drive, decision making abilities, only interested in politics.

I worked at FMC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary. Signing bonus and retention bonus to seal the deal. Only a two year contract and then you can leave and not pay relocation and bonus money back in full. You will realize that you want to leave in 6 months or less, if you have ever worked at some place that is good.

The lone pro is the money. Everything else is a con. A consolation is that you only have to stay 2 years before you can leave without having to pay back the up front money.

    Cons

Micro management like you have never seen before! An absolutely horrible Union that runs the place and a management team with no managerial fortitude and zero leadership skills. The leadership is at there best when painting a story for corporate.

    Advice to Management

FMC did well to sell at a premium. Tronox and Tom Casey bought a cash cow to save the TiO2 business, but the cow is very ill.

Severe the FMC legacy and get a fresh start with a new management team with modern skills, strategies and techniques.

sexist, non diverse leadership. Not a healthy place if politics is not your middle name. Authentic, compassionate leadership does not last or exist for very long....

I worked at FMC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent Pay. Sign on bonuses available. New building coming in later 2016 which includes a cafe and nice facilities for working.

    Cons

Operations should expect and demand better and effective corporate leadership. High turn over. Three women leaders have left the company in the last six months. Worker Safety is not going to get better if leaders keep lowering the goal in order to guarantee their bonuses.

I have been working at FMC full-time

    Pros

Good pay and benefits that match the Philadelphia Job Market.

    Cons

Lack of leadership, leaders aren't held accountable for their actions and instead pass the blame downwards, management clicks team up against one and other thus creating a soiled organization within the company and even departments

    Advice to Management

Stop being so risky in your decision making process. Not everything will turn out like you envision. Listen to the people in the business units, not consultants.

I worked at FMC (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a decent publicly traded company in a great part of town. The benefits and pay are pretty good. Since it is a multinational corporation you get some great exposure.

    Cons

During my time there there were cases of harassment, fraud, bullying, discrimination, and abuse. HR did nothing to remedy the problem except for punish those that reported the problems and lay them off or have them fired. This company even has a fraud hotline, which is frequently used but is useless as HR does nothing. The company abuses their employees and no longer offer many opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Stop all the mergers and acquisitions, and focus on growing your business. Stop making all these changes, and get a grip of everything that is going on in your company. Listen to the employees and take compliance seriously.

I worked at FMC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you are lazy and do not want to work, the management group at the Bessemer City site does not have enough sense to fire you.
Pay and benefits are good, but they have to pay enough to try and keep people from leaving.
Have a reasonable performance review program.
There is some effort around training.
They are generally nice, friendly people but unable to execute

    Cons

Maybe it's changed since I left, but here's what I saw:

Mechanical Integrity: piping is severely corroded, tanks develop holes, pumps are operated until the mounting bases rust away, building walls are cracked. In one instance, building steel rusted through and their process building started to fall onto the railroad tracks. Very depressing conditions.

Safety: PHAs are very crude, multiple areas where employees work in contact with noxious and/or reactive chemicals. When there are incidents, they sit for hours issuing corrective actions that are never completed. Constant ongoing corrosion of equipment and infrastructure poses major maintenance challenges.

Turnover: revolving door for engineers. Nobody who wants to improve site conditions sticks around, site leadership is incredibly slow to make decisions and get obvious improvements finished.

Management: they sleep in meetings if they show up at all, are unable to fire poor performers. Do not understand basic principals of chemical manufacturing, do not want suggestions for improvement. There is constant acrimony between site leadership and the division mgt group, the exceptionally poor management principles demonstrated by the offsite division leadership appears to be the root of most of the site's issues.

Operations: management generally stays off the floor, operators are left to fend for themselves with broken equipment and bizarre safety procedures. Operators develop their own methods for running the equipment, sometimes wrong. This plant is stuck in the 1950s.

    Advice to Management

    Have you no shame?

I have been working at FMC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

not too many, an ethical company

    Cons

pay raises capped at no more than 1 or 2 percent. Experienced employees are taken for granted and have no chance for advancement. Instead the "youngies" get all the advancement since they are cheaper. Benefits are horrible.

    Advice to Management

You are going to need a mix of young and old in your organization and you need to value the experienced employees equally with the young upstarts.
