    Pros

Location is good. Easy to coast because it is a mess internally. Not too hard to be a star.

    Cons

The company is falling apart from the inside and senior management has been either ignoring the issue or ineffective at managing it. Top talent is fleeing and there is serious retention issues. Standard internal processes are breaking down (IT support, Payroll calculations, etc.) because everyone is stretched far too thin. The culture emphasizes individuality at the expense of the group so there is aggression, self-serving motives, and unproductive conflict (back stabbing, "turf" wars).

It is a strange place to work -- there is open dismay and disagreement with management's direction and no real leadership, leading many to just survive or leave (there is a large belief that it is just waiting until the company is sold).

The culture can be exemplified by the punitive nature of internal policies (mandatory vesting periods, non-prorated clawback clauses, low vacation, mediocre benefits) - there are plenty of companies in the area who are able to incentivize through positive, less restrictive policies and retain talent.

    Pros

Great to work at this financially well-performing Fortune 1000 company and have a real impact shaping its future. Although conservative the way many chemical companies are, there is genuine support for strategies and initiatives to generate shareholder value in ways beyond traditional financial measures.

    Cons

Like it is at many U.S. publicly-traded companies, short-term financial performance reigns supreme. This can manifest in an all-hands-on-deck mentality to meet the quarter, even if it negatively impacts focus and investment into longer-term activities that could lead to greater growth and sustainability.

    Advice to Management

Dedicate resources, both human and financial, that can't be touched to meet quarterly earning, to create short and long-term customer value beyond the intrinsic value of our products, to help manage volatility in cyclical markets and the commoditization of the core.

    Pros

Compensation is one of the highest in the industry. You meet great individuals throughout the company.

    Cons

Upper level management needs to change. A number of initialatives in business has changed but upper level management has not due to the fact they've nerve worked anywhere else. So they see newcomers as threats.

    Advice to Management

Go to another company and learn new things. There is a lot of growth that need to happen but it's a good ole boy system. Stop keeping managers on board because they are friends and family members.

I worked at FMC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary. Signing bonus and retention bonus to seal the deal. Only a two year contract and then you can leave and not pay relocation and bonus money back in full. You will realize that you want to leave in 6 months or less, if you have ever worked at some place that is good.

The lone pro is the money. Everything else is a con. A consolation is that you only have to stay 2 years before you can leave without having to pay back the up front money.

    Cons

Micro management like you have never seen before! An absolutely horrible Union that runs the place and a management team with no managerial fortitude and zero leadership skills. The leadership is at there best when painting a story for corporate.

    Advice to Management

FMC did well to sell at a premium. Tronox and Tom Casey bought a cash cow to save the TiO2 business, but the cow is very ill.

Severe the FMC legacy and get a fresh start with a new management team with modern skills, strategies and techniques.

    Pros

Excellent Pay. Sign on bonuses available. New building coming in later 2016 which includes a cafe and nice facilities for working.

    Cons

Operations should expect and demand better and effective corporate leadership. High turn over. Three women leaders have left the company in the last six months. Worker Safety is not going to get better if leaders keep lowering the goal in order to guarantee their bonuses.
