Pros
Great manager and a great work/life balance
Cons
Not as competitive pay as other companies
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Excellent Training Program A lot of good people Good Work Life Balance Good career opportunities if you are patient
Cons
Promotions based on who you know as oppose to what you know but that is pretty typical these days for large companies.Terrible middle management who does not know their own employees. HR cannot be trusted. Most everyone is out to save their job even if it means throwing you under the bus to do it. Way too many good people leaving or being laid off. Most managers are opting to keep the "deadwood" because it's easier. 3 manager changes in 4 months in 2015...that should tell you something. I should of went with my gut. Customer Success = Lie to the customer as much as you can.

Pros
- Family atmosphere - Good work-life balance - Encouraged to challenge management (results may vary) - Convenient location - Personal growth encouraged - Well structured for changing positions within the company - Competitive pay and raises (when oil is up)
Cons
- Cyclical industry currently in a major downturn, unclear how full a recovery will be made - Widespread headcount reductions leading to uncertainty regarding future employment - Simultaneous re-structuring, process "improvement", no-value-added corporate initiatives - "Just be glad you're employed" attitude regarding compensation during downturn - Questionable management priorities regarding how best to compete in down market

Pros
7% matching 401k (3% vested after 3 years), 3 weeks vacation, Good work/life balance. Tons of project work in good times. Lots of opportunity to advance your career if you choose to do so (lots of sideways movement, only upward movement if you obtain an MBA). Layoff packages aren't so bad. Good management (they generally leave you alone if you're kicking butt...aka..providing on-time delivery so we look good in the face of the customer and management gets their big bonuses).
Cons
Lots of red tape. Good ol' boys club in management (don't get me wrong, most of them are good people, but you just have to be in their club to play at that level). Lower and middle management are tend to parrot orders from the top and are generally do not have the power to do anything but within the scope of their tiny circle of power.

Pros
Work life balance at FMC is very good, I was able to negotiate extra PTO and could use it at my own discretion. There are a great group of folks working there and all understand the hurdles you face working at FMC.
Cons
Turnover is ridiculous, especially at the operational level at the field locations. As soon as you build re pore with someone, poof they are gone. FMC Can't seem to retain the strong, smart, and sociable employees. I think it is honestly due to the fact that upper management has done a pretty awful job of providing guidance on how to navigate in the industry today. Every couple of months there is a new re-organization of the division and new managers, it provides a pretty unstable culture which creates fear within the employees to even want to stay.

Pros
When the industry is doing well, it is very easy to move around the company to gain experience and try different things. When you have a good manager, you end up with more flexibility that allows you to maintain work-life balance while focusing on your work instead of tripping on the myriad rules governing employees.
Cons
Having a bad manager can easily make your work life (and to some degree, your home life) miserable. Employees are governed not only by listed rules, but also by FMC's "core values", meaning that anything that can be argued as running counter to one of the core values is a potential write-up.

Pros
I worked as a Business Analyst while pursuing my MBA. I have an engineering degree and the company prefers to hire people with engineering background but I had classmates who did not have engineering background and were hired with the same benefits/salary as mine. My experience at FMC was like no other place! My boss and colleagues were an outstanding support. The team welcome me in a friendly manner and everyone was open to my recommendations. Work/Life balance was perfect! HR has been improving employees' benefits and perks (such as having a Starbucks with 50% discount in the offices, Gym for employees, etc) so it was a great place to work. The Cafeteria (Houston location) has a many options for lunch and is very affordable (the company subsidies it)
Cons
None. I personally love everything about this company.

Pros
Work life balance is good, visibility to management is solid. Opportunities can be endless and quick moves are an option.
Cons
Depending on manager life can get hectic. Occasionally employees can be held back by a manager who does not want them to move on.

Pros
Good environment to work in, able to work with other competent intelligent people. Pay is competitive with the market and work/life balance is a plus.
Cons
Hard to move up, salary can stagnate after a certain period of time. Overall, management practices favoritism with their employees
- Former Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
good 401k match which is up to 9%. work life balance is pretty good as well.
Cons
the company comes from manufacturing and has been in a touch situation trying to figure out how to do R&D. FMCTI spent huge amount of money trying to develop subsea processing equipment by itself, but ended up with a big failure. Main reason, from my personal perspective view, is the company does not know how to do research and development, because they used to copy and manufacture XT, manifold and other subsea equipment. Most middle level managers does not have enough technical skills and experience how to do R&D. Some typical manager with technology center likes micro-management and bullying people.
