I have been working at FMP Consulting full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - Unlimited PTO (simply mark your calendar when you will be gone, recent reporting of PTO use (see blog post) shows that there is no major difference in a normal 3-week program. -Flexible hours and Telework allows for a trustworthy work environment where you are not stuck in a 9-5 -Project opportunities: FMP has a diverse set of projects that (while they will cater to your strengths, you do have open doors to try new...

    Cons

General nature of consulting and ambiguity: When there are degress of separation between the agency's needs, the client's interpretation of the needs, the project manager's interpretation of the client's request, and your limited context, things get lost in translation. I think that FMP would benefit from more direct channels of communication (e.g., Skype for business, Slack) so that every minor transaction does not have...

    Advice to Management

This is the best developmental opportunity that I have had, mainly due to my Managing Consultant/Managing Director. It seems like FMP has a great grasp at bringing in newer employees and developing them, so the current focus seems to be bringing in higher-level employees for the long haul.

I have been working at FMP Consulting full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Flexibility: FMP allows you to work when you want and where you want. This is taking advantage of by the staff and work still gets done at a good quality and on deadline. Benefits: Standard health, dental, vision, and 401k. Free snacks and lunches from time-to-time, and a company stock program. Location: FMP's office is spacious and new. It's not metro accessible, but a short bus ride from the metro and you also...

    Cons

Culture: FMP has transformed from a team-focused work environment to one that favors passive aggressiveness and throwing others under the bus. The stress level has also been increasing because of FMP's inability to win and keep work. This means that consultants are stretched thin and asked to do more and more every quarter. Thought Leadership: From what I've been told, FMP used to contain thought leaders from a variety...

    Advice to Management

You have hired a group of hard working and intelligent employees. Reassess your approach to leading us and address the stressful and toxic culture that the office has transformed into. It's possible that it isn't that way at the top, but all of the day-to-day workers feel it.

I have been working at FMP Consulting full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

This company has a dedication to high quality and strong relationships with clients. One of the few companies I've worked for that cares for its employees.

    Cons

Unfortunately, there really isn't any way for the company to guarantee a certain type of work for you, as some contracts end. The company does a very good job of only staffing if they have work for potential employees beyond current contracts, but that work isn't always necessarily something that is in your current area of expertise.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doing. You have done a great job creating a positive environment.

I worked at FMP Consulting full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

=> Benefits (3 stars out of 5). It’s 2016. Companies have benefits. I think FMP’s benefits are a hair below average, but they get the job done. => Day-to-day responsibilities (3 stars out of 5). Pretty typical for a management consulting company. You’ll mostly spend time facilitating meetings with co-workers and clients as well as preparing typical MS Office deliverables. A lot of this work is boring, but you can work...

    Cons

=> Pay (1 star out of 5). Their offer was the lowest I have received from a prospective employer in my career; however, tons of companies lowball candidates routinely, so that’s not why FMP gets a low rating here. They get a low rating because their offer wasn’t actually a lowball. In fact, I came to learn that they offered me a high salary relative to other employees with my skills and experience. In other words, I was...

    Advice to Management

Giving advice to management via an anonymous Glassdoor review would be very passive-aggressive of me, so I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'll use this spot to summarize my review for job seekers: Poor pay and culture. Excellent parties and snacks. Pay and culture are more important than parties and snacks. You can probably do better than FMP. Keep searching.

    Pros

Teleworking: FMP Offers a flexible work schedule as long as you’re able to meet client and firm goals and obligations you can work where you want and when you want – the flexibility is a great aspect of the firm Benefits: Health, Dental, Medical as well as some fringe benefits (free snacks in the office and comp. time) are a plus Strong Client Relationships: FMP has built strong relationships with their clients....

Location: Current office location is not easily accessible as it is not near a metro line; however a shuttle is offered from pentagon city and free parking is offered to employees who drive. Paid-Time Off Policy: 15 days, not great but not terrible. FMP should consider providing employees with a separate bucket for sick leave. With a flexible telework policy, employees are encouraged to work from home when sick. ...

    Advice to Management

Overall, I feel FMP can improve by taking the time to ensure that the company uses all of its employees to their full potential not just a select few. FMP hires smart and dedicated people who want to make an impact for their clients; however, they are not given the chance and are not supported by the culture. The turnover within the firm is high because employees are not given the opportunities for growth and development...

I have been working at FMP Consulting full-time

    Pros

The best part of working at FMP is the flexibility. Opportunities exist for employees to telework and work flexible hours. You're treated like an adult, which is very empowering.

    Cons

Benefits package is substandard when compared with larger competitors - time off, in particular is lacking.

I worked at FMP Consulting full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

-They have a mentor program. Use it! This will acclimate you to the culture, and you NEED it. You will also need someone other than your direct manager taking stock of you in those management meetings. -Wonderful colleagues. Make friends quickly. Be reliable.

    Cons

    - Never say "No." Delegate! You will thrive best if you can do this without making people hate you, but as long as the people above you like you, that tends to be what really matters. Remember, you can not always do all the work passed to you or offered to you, so rather than deny the "opportunity," delegate it in the best way possible. -Go to social events. Introverts do not get much grace. -You need to be strategic...
