    I have been working at FN Manufacturing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -proud workforce
    -clean manufacturing facility, high tech equipment
    -contracts now more aggressive, new initiatives
    -one of the better HR depts I've seen. Benefits are competitive, education reimbursement is great.
    -most managers seem to care about employees' work-life balance

    Cons

    -old culture, resistant to change. Not a good attitude to have when defense contracts start to decline.
    -incompentency in a few of the managers. Increased amount of disgruntled employees if one of the incompetent managers is Belgian, as perception is that Belgian managers are 'untouchable'
    -quality issues in the supply base; better than it was last year, still a big opportunity for improvement

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Management does care about its employees
    Quality products that employees can get behind.
    Company goes to great lengths to reduce the effects of downsizing and layoffs.

    Cons

    Business is largely based on government contracts and revenue can shrink fast at the realm of government.

    Departments seem to compete with each other for projects relying on political clout to decide who gets the resources.

    Some departments are clearly favored over others.

    Advice to Management

    Overall, I feel management is great. They could do a better job of making upper management appear less like the good old boys network. Upper Managers appear to compete with each other instead of helping everyone do a better job themselves.

    Pros

    It used to be a glace that took great care of it's employees. New management is changing that.

    Cons

    Perception of upper management and a slow down in the industry.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to some of their natural resources, people, and allow more ideas on how to make successful changes from within,

    Weekend shift availability. good benefits.

    Cons

    frequent shift changes. not enough manager/employee interaction.

    Advice to Management

    Understand the mood and moral towards supervision. Take time to personally communicate with department hourly employees.

    Proud workers
    Decent facility
    good discounts

    Cons

    Overtime because someone cant plan currectly
    Management doesnt care what you think
    Qualitity is compromised to get product out the door
    Loss large contracts and expect layoffs soon

    Advice to Management

    Get some better contract quoters
    Actually listen to your employees needs in their department

    Pros

    Good benfiets, good pay, air conditioning in buildings, 4 day work week (40Hrs)

    Cons

    supervisors look at and treat you like your dumb. lots of over time even if you don't want it. no upward movement. management lies to employees. Old technical skills.

    Pros

    Can't really think of any unless you are a gun lover.

    Cons

    Upper management has no clue as to how the company works or who works in the departments. No one communicates. Very racist company, unorganized and for women, unless you wear tight skirts and sit on the VP desk, you're not going to get very far.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees with dignity and respect. Stop the "old boy's" club mentality. Hire people who are qualified, not just people someone knows or women who like to throw themselves on the men.

    Pros

    hours were ok once in the swing of things. employees easy to work with no complaints there. integrity ok but.

    Cons

    benefits were very bad, had to join wife's plan in order to get some major work done. why have benefit options
