I worked at FOX Sports full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

paid well, very cool work that your friends and neighbors will assume is prestigious and they'll think you must be smart even if you're not, no drug tests, everybody there is a screwup so if you're even slightly normal you'll look like an all-star, no dress code (except dudes can't wear sandals or shorts), the supervisors are all addicts so its easy to outsmart them, management is so secluded that they never know your name, let alone bother you, uhh....free parking, comfortable chairs, you get to control the thermostat in your control room, and a bunch of my friends work there.

    Cons

the schedule is brutal and barely legal. lots of people who work there will take a dump and then not wash their hands. there's a lot of very fat people, so that can be pretty gross, too, when you're walking down the hall. also, you actually have to work for about 2.5 hours out of a typical 40 hour work week. also people make lots of fart jokes and that can ruin your life if you're not one of the idiots who finds that stuff funny.

    Advice to Management

    take the money and run.

    Pros

Smart people, really cool projects and great place to have on your resume

    Cons

Decent amount of politics, but nothing that can't be navigated

    Advice to Management

Always stay ahead of the innovation curve by bringing in creative minds

I worked at FOX Sports full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, some good people to work with, make decent connections.

    Cons

Horrible pay for what you do. If you're in an "on air" department your schedule will be crazy hectic. Most managers don't give a crap about you, corporate doesn't care who you are. They have a crazy attendance policy that is like no other company. You can only be late about 11 times within a year or you will be penalized. They don't care about life happening or traffic issues.

    Advice to Management

This is more for HR. Your people deserve more pay. Fox is the lowest paying company in broadcasting. Stand by your employees when it comes to corporate, don't throw people under the bus. I was excited when I first started with you and then quickly realized how bad the company was.

Great Entertainment company with good benefits

    Cons

You have to learn the system on your own. Limited to no training.

I worked at FOX Sports full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

***THIS IS FOR FOX SPORTS ONE, PRIOR TO THE LAYOFFS***

    - You get a TV at your desk and can just watch (monitor) sports. Every game and package too

    - The place has some cool people (I'll explain this as a con below).

    - Got to go to a Dodger game and do some other field production

    - Being on a movie lot was neat

    -Everything was brand new

    - Semi lax dress code

    Cons

    - Awful schedule; essentially since it's "sports news" you don't get to have a social life. You will work early mornings (5am) or late nights (1am). And holidays.

    - Due to the fact you work all the time, you begin to resent your coworkers

    - People who had been at FS (before it was FS1) were lazy and annoyed it became a network

    - Upper management doesn't care about you

    - A lot of, "well this person has been here longer, so they get special treatment"

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I worked at FOX Sports full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -My office was nice
    -coffee was good
-a couple of people on my team were nice, until they couldn't take it anymore and left the company

    Cons

-when you take a sexual harassment claim to HR, they don't believe you or they downplay it. My manager felt me up in the hallway at the office party. My HR rep said maybe I imagined it or I drank too much. This is unacceptable. I felt so uncomfortable after that that I just had to find another job. A lawsuit wasn't worth it.
    -completely misogynistic culture
-not many minorities and very few or none in leadership roles

    Advice to Management

More training for people to not sexually harass employees and be kind to minorities. Don't allow this culture.

    Pros

Nothing that I can think of but I must hit a 20 word minimum to submit this so I am

    Cons

I was called the c word by a manager here., along with other colorful profanities. This is considered standard language by a group of misogynistic men, specifically their technical team. I am looking into further action. Way to perpetuate the stereotype fox, well done

    Advice to Management

Do not call your female employees the c word or anyone for that matter. The environment that the management here creates is one of hostility and unprofessionalism. The language used here on the day to day truly makes me sick to my stomach. I can only imagine what happens behind closed doors

    Pros

Cool LA location. Seems like a dream. If you're into the whole west coast scene, it's heaven.

    Cons

Massive levels of management. Lots of cliques. Obscenely corporate.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck.
