Great place to work, but salaries need a bump.

    Pros

    The neighborhood, that's about it.

    Cons

I worked in the traffic department for Fox Deportes and the Fox International (Spanish language) channels. The entire section was placed in a dirty, poorly lit area. The difference between the English and Spanish language areas were obvious. Bright, fresh paint and clean flooring for Fox Sports literally gave way to dirty, smelly carpeting and chipped fading paint right where Deportes and the International channels office area began. it stunk in every sense of the word. Depressing aesthetics aside, the woman I reported to was very unprofessional. She would scream at people all the time. Everyone cowered at her tantrums. It felt like you were in the orphanage Dickens describes in Oliver Twist. And to top it all off, the pay was terrible. Thank goodness I was on a temp to perm basis. I got out of there as soon as I could.

    Pros

***THIS IS FOR FOX SPORTS ONE, PRIOR TO THE LAYOFFS*** - You get a TV at your desk and can just watch (monitor) sports. Every game and package too - The place has some cool people (I'll explain this as a con below). - Got to go to a Dodger game and do some other field production - Being on a movie lot was neat -Everything was brand new - Semi lax dress code

    Cons

    - Awful schedule; essentially since it's "sports news" you don't get to have a social life. You will work early mornings (5am) or late nights (1am). And holidays. - Due to the fact you work all the time, you begin to resent your coworkers - People who had been at FS (before it was FS1) were lazy and annoyed it became a network - Upper management doesn't care about you - A lot of, "well this person has been here longer, so they get special treatment"

A Great Company Now Reduced to a Shadow of Itself

Jun 29, 2016 - Producer in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

Day-to-day crew (APs, BAs, Producers, stage crew) were great to work with. Working in the trenches with your co-workers during holidays, weekends, etc bonds you together in friendship that lasts well beyond working at FOX. Getting paid to watch sports is definitely a plus.

    Cons

Yikes, where do I start? It's a ship with no sails. Executive management has no idea what they're doing and all those who've put in years to help FOX Sports/FS1 succeed have paid dearly for it. Most young people on the FOX Sports side only get promoted if they're from the East Coast and are the child of an executive's friend. Equal opportunity does not exist here. The FS1 side is even more of a mess. A lot of well-meaning production crew following executives who make decisions that run counter to common sense. It's experimental (as any new entity should be) but not in the smart way. A lot of good talent and time wasted chasing the next big idea without taking the time to think critically about how to get to that idea.

    Pros

A lot of opportunities to network and explore other teams within Fox Sports that you may be interested in.

    Cons

It was a busy time of year during the fall of 2017, including the World Series being hosted in LA. Therefore, most of the employees were busy trying to keep their heads above water, so it was important to continue asking to help and learn in anyway that I could.

    Pros

cool to be working at a sports site (i was working for their digital property) and when you're as big as fox sports it's way easier than working for a smaller startup that may or may not have the same brand recognition.

    Cons

Lots of meatheads... everyone there knew a lot about sports but frankly, most people just weren't that smart. A lot of my position was about networking and so they often looked for college athletes and good looking women but it gave the office a certain vibe i wasn't looking for. Lots of politics at play within the office which is expected at a company like Fox.

Great coworkers and content, poor management

Feb 20, 2016 - Director in Los Angeles, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Work with a lot of talented and dedicated people who believe that fox sports can be the leader in the sports media space.

    Cons

Biggest downside is senior level management and their creation of an "old boys network." This creates an incredibly political landscape where brown-nosing is rewarded over talent, good ideation and creativity.
