    Pros

Amazing community of people, healthy environment, continual training, benefits, 401k, cafeteria, opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

No advancement or growth for massage therapists.

    Advice to Management

Many departments have recruited employees from outside of the fairmont family. In many cases, I have seen qualified individuals within the company not get promoted, when they deserved it, which is unfortunate. Recruit within.

    Pros

    Some good traveling benefits..ok pay

    Cons

sometines tough people to work with, divide b/t union employees and managment

    Advice to Management

have management treat all employees equally not just the ones in management, the people that do all the hard labor are the foundation of the hotel, but are undervalued. please respect people that do good work no matter what title they have. the best managers are the ones that have started at the bottom and worked their way up. they know what the struggle is like and appreciate their employees more.

    Pros

Fairmont offers a lot of opportunity for growth within the company, whether it be with the property you currently are employed or at another property elsewhere. Also, Fairmont prides itself on providing top notch customer service and they truly do.

    Cons

For me I would have to say the only downside of working for Fairmont Pittsburgh is that it is a new hotel that has not even been open for one whole year. There for there have been a lot of kinks to work out resulting in a higher than average turnover rate for the hotel industry.

    Advice to Management

I would focus on lowering employee turnover rather than other side projects just in this beginning year of being open.

    Pros

Discounts at sister hotels is a great perk.

    Cons

Management practices are unfair and not on a level playing ground. Goofing off is ignored so others pick up the work of those who slack. Petty gossip and egos get in the way of getting the job done.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and ears. Have more personal interviews with individuals about their ideas and experiences. One on one meetings give more flexibility for both parties to learn why Management does what it does. Stop letting the slackers get away with doing nothing! Stop or punish the gossip of fellow employees.

    Pros

Good work environment, good benefits and perks.

    Cons

Repetitive work at times is mundane. It seems that issues do not get resolved unless the issue is costing the hotel money.

    Advice to Management

Don't stick with the old ways just because it's how things used to operate. Be fair and equal with new rules and apply them to all employees. Don't let a few employees operate under different rules than others, especially in the same department.
