I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Phenomenal team-oriented environment.
Great culture, especially in the Construction Solutions practice. A great group of people who enjoy exchanging ideas and knowledge.
Supportive environment that supports personal and professional growth.
    Work-life balance.

    Cons

Management can get too focused on bringing outside talent rather than developing the existing talent pool.
Compensation and benefits are not bad, but could be a lot better.

    Advice to Management

Encourage out-of-the-box thinking and innovation in your employees.
Focus resources on developing and properly compensating existing talent rather than pursuing outside talent.

I worked at FTI Consulting full-time

    Pros

    Good pay and bonus structure
Good at helping employees structure goals
Lots of access to courses and training

    Cons

Terrible culture - particularly in Construction Solutions.
Very competitive - management basically encourages employees to cross other employees in order to get ahead
Expected to be available at all hours and cancel all plans if necessary (I was once instructed to cancel a flight to work over the weekend).

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees and less about pure profit.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This varies group to group, but there is a very healthy atmosphere at FTI. The company is making huge strides in becoming a major player in the management consulting realm. We frequently compete (and win) against the Big 4 firms as well as McKinsey, BCG, and Bain. Generous benefits and vacation with more than fair compensation. You can't trade the experience working here for anything.

    Cons

As was said above, there is some variability within groups at FTI. Some are super fun and collaborative while others are more rigid and cold.

    Advice to Management

Continue promoting a culture of cross-collaboration between groups in the firm.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

competitive pay opportunity to travel 100% of the time (hint of sarcasm)

    Cons

In the Healthcare practice there is poor advancement at the Director level on up; the firm consistently fills Managing Director and Senior Managing Director positions with rejects from the Big Four consultancies

    Advice to Management

Identify your loyal "A" players and grow people from within; learn to appropriately identify and share sales credit; start evaluating staff based upon accomplishments on the client site (e.g. implement client executive feedback surveys) not on the typical politics which exist in this and pretty much every consulting practice
