Be sure to be in a large segment.

I worked at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - interesting and varied projects
    - good opportunities to travel or to work in other FTI offices
    - a good learning opportunity in the first couple of years of your carreer

    Cons

    - huge differences in terms of management and teams from one office to the other
    - strict hierarchy, not very encouraging for juniors
    - very few responsabilities given to junior staff
    - not the most friendly environment

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the actual progress each employee is making. Evaluations made by friends might be a tricky tool of assessment. Career advancement is not something that should be automatic from one year to the other but rather earned and deserved.

    Pros

Baked goods and pastries on Thursday's and snack closet and free parking.

    Cons

Management dont speak unless it's out of necessity, managers outwardly display angry body language slamming things. Pompous, arrogant, big bully corporate culture that isn't inclusive since the office is caucasian and asian but not one AFRICAN AMERICAN. I felt the prejudice, 93% non verbal body language daily was negative unengaged and theres sexual harassment.

    Advice to Management

Provide a leadership mentoring program that teaches diversity inclusion and how to effectively communicate with employees, provide the tools to effectively accomplish their job (horrible
expense report off site support staff and onboarding/systems accessibility), so they feel like valued team-members among the "good ole boys gang." Take a little time to get to know your staff and be careful management loves to speak inappropriately.

I worked at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Fair/good pay
    - Straight forward promotion structure
    - Consulting in general is a good career starter
    - Had 1-2 solid project managers when I was here, so I guess not everyone sucks
    - There is a Women Initiative Network (WIN), but no other sort of diversity/minority groups

    Cons

    - Many people are unhappy here.. some people leave without another offer at hand
    - Lots of complaints about it being an "old boys' club" as you move up; lots of men in management and not a good representation of women
    - Minimal room for growth / very little opportunities to be challenged
    - Management shows little to no care about employee growth / culture
    - Leadership lacks the "leadership" skills - don't know how to manage, lead, nor inspire their teams
    - Experience dependent on project staffing - possible to get stuck on a crap project for years or on a great project (those don't last)
    - Methodologies and technology used is way behind peers. There are much better financial and data analytics consulting firms who are working with bigger clients and working with more advanced technologies --> you should go to one of those instead.
    - Expensive health insurance policy

Good team, dynamic environment with good work life balance and decent pay. The firm provides good opportunities for development and advancement and an excellent client book.

    Cons

The office temperature is too high.
