I worked at FTI Consulting full-time

    Pros

    Good pay and bonus structure
Good at helping employees structure goals
Lots of access to courses and training

    Cons

Terrible culture - particularly in Construction Solutions.
Very competitive - management basically encourages employees to cross other employees in order to get ahead
Expected to be available at all hours and cancel all plans if necessary (I was once instructed to cancel a flight to work over the weekend).

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees and less about pure profit.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a company that values ideas and hard work. If you're looking for a place to make an impact and grow professionally then FTI is going to be a good fit for you. This company is actively trying to invest in their people and will find its way to success very soon.

    Cons

    Benefits package is status quo.

    Advice to Management

FTI occupies a unique space in the professional services industry. Own that fact and keep doing things in your own way. Find that niche thing that makes you unique and run with it. Take benefits for instance: You don't have to offer the best benefits package across the board but if you make one aspect of your benefits better than your competitors then you'll have a significant advantage.

I worked at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was close to home. Some of my peers were cool to work with.

    Cons

The politics of corporate are absolutely the worst I have ever seen. The watering contests between directors always flowed downhill if you know what I mean. The salary draws you in but it's not worth it by a long shot.

    Advice to Management

Shake up the directors, hire competent management

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoy the people I work with. Lots of opportunity for interesting projects. There can be growth in the company pending on what work you do. Our segment is well organized. PTO and benefits are good!

    Cons

Work load is highly dynamic, where it's either too slow or overly stressful. With that, Work-life balance can be variable. In most cases, I end up working on PTO and always checking emails. Sometimes you feel overworked and underappreciated. High turnover rate for younger (upcoming) consultants.

    Advice to Management

Some people are good supervisors and great to work with, where others are not willing (or able) to take on that task. Be sure mentors and people with management power are willing to step up to be available to consultant level employees.

    Pros

    Decent pay
    Working remotely is an option
    Lots of food
I have to have a 20 word minimum and cannot say anything else so, there you go.

    Cons

    No development
    No reasonable goal plan followed
The worst HR I've ever seen, ever
    You lose your soul

    Advice to Management

Actually hire managers that develop their people and are talented with client relations. Work on rentention and make better cultural incentives, not just cash.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time

    Pros

FTI invests a great amount of resources into training its recent grad employees.

    Cons

Management is not transparent. Feel mislead about the type of work I was told about during the interview process and what I'm actually doing now. Many offices feel more like an old boys club than a modern, professional environment.

    Pros

Flexibility. Depending on your position, office and team, there are opportunities to work from home (or remotely) and work flexible hours.

    Cons

Everything is political here, and there is very little diversity. They overwork you, and do not fairy compensate you with the benefits or salary that you deserve. Overall company culture is okay, at best.

    Advice to Management

Treat your support services staff better. Although getting the bottom line work done is important, keeping your employees happy and hungry to work hard is important too.
