I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for. Colleagues are smart, easy to get along with, supportive, and very committed to their job.

    Cons

Work tends to follow us home, constant availability is implicitly expected. Work can be stressful at times with rolling tight deadlines.

    Advice to Management

I do not have advise for management, they do a great job keep everyone up to date on what is going on in the company.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great junior level people to work within the company. All junior level employees are always willing to help, learn more on the go, and contribute to all matters even if they are not fully staffed within the matter.

    Cons

No transparency within the company. Senior Level Management does not applaud or encourage junior level staff in leading the company or applaud them with their hard work. Work Life balance is non-existent when you are expected to check your phone 24/7. Work lots of weekends and have high demanding clients with no set client expectations from team. Junior Level employees are expected to take most of the brunt work without any incentives. Pay is 30% less than the average consultant.

    Advice to Management

Most advice given to management is never taken seriously; therefore, it's a waste of time even suggesting anything.

    Pros

    Great employees and co-workers.

    Cons

Going through a corporate restructuring, the word of superiors is suspect at best.

    Advice to Management

Honesty and take care of your employees.

    Pros

There are so many opportunities while working with FTI. Getting to work with intelligent people on projects. As a recent graduate I find plenty of pros working at FTI. Having the ability to travel. A lot of office locations for relocation opportunities. Great environments at every location I've been too. Plenty of advancement potential. Benefits and salary are great.

    Cons

Travel can be arduous, and pay is not always competitive enough to compensate.

    Advice to Management

    Get onboard with working remotely.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay (took essentially the same pay to leave). Great group at the junior levels. Generous PTO and benefits. Opportunities to advance if you are the right person, in the right place, at the right time.

    Cons

Good Ol' Boys Club at the upper management level. Management also battles perception problems ("playing favorites", disingenuous presentations at meetings, etc). Projects are typically interesting at a high level and in general terms, but junior staff is left to do the dirty, tedious elements of execution.

    Advice to Management

I could offer some but they seem stuck in their ways.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart co-workers, good assignments, travel opportunities, good learning opportunities, and good senior management.

    Cons

Poor work-life balance, compensation isn't great, and little communication across upper and mid-management.

    Advice to Management

Institute 360 degree reviews otherwise it's difficult to evaluate how effectively mid-level management is managing consultants.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Most of the people here are very smart and hard working
    - Pay is solid and on par with industry

    Cons

    - Senior leaders are very narrow minded and will not allow people below them any flexibility to try new initiatives
    - Bonus is driven way too much on utilization, which provides no incentive to do good work and only bill hours
    - Don't do anything to retain talented employees, a lot of which leave within 1-2 years of joining the firm
    - No integration of culture from the plethora of acquisitions over the last 5 years
    - No strategic vision or leadership from practice leaders or senior management - increasing bill rates and hiring more people is not a sustainable growth strategy. Also no transparency or communication from same leaders.

    Advice to Management

You need to provide more communication and transparency, as well as develop a legitimate strategy and actions to achieve the end goal. Just stating the end goal without any implementation is useless.
