I worked at FX Alliance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    For QA folks:
    Steady stream of work
Reasonable balance between work life- since work is not overly challenging
A great place to work if you are NOT looking for challenges in your career or any sort of career growth
Middle management employees tend to stick around forever and rarely provide an opportunity for promotion by attrition.

    Cons

One mans poison is another mans elixir.
The Pros mentioned above could be Huge Cons for some.
1For Functional Folks- You hit a plateau very soon and its a struggle to keep the motivation up since there is nothing much to learn .
2 Growth potential is very rare- and if you dont enjoy testing the same set of features or executing the same tests again and again - This is NOT the place for you.
Certain aspects may have changed since their aquisition by Thomson Reuters so my update may be outdated.

    Advice to Management

Advices in Proffesional circle is useless- especially an advice propogated via a third party site.
So I leave the higher management to do what they do best and run their own show.

HR team is not friendly, promote from within

I worked at FX Alliance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

FXall has an extremely talented staff, a great customer base, strong product offering and free coffee. The CEO has an excellent view on where the industry is heading and is well connected to the banks that use the FXall platform.

    Cons

At times, FXall is a stressful work environment. Many of the teams are too thinly staffed to achieve expected results or handle unanticipated challenges that arise.

    Advice to Management

Management does a good job defining the plan. The key is to stick to the plan and avoid unnecessary fire drills.

I worked at FX Alliance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Since it is rather small company there is a good visibility considering work efforts, inter-group
communication does help in solving problems.

    Cons

    Quite a lot of them.
    - Managment is biased and technically speaking - not too technical where it should be.
    - Profit margin level score takes precedence over the wellness of employees
    - Some key-decisions seem to be detached from reality.

    Advice to Management

Take more seriously current needs and rewarding. This appies to many areas. I'd name 3 of them:
    - technical - obsolote equipment does not help in strategic goals achievement
    - hr - employees who are overachievers - expects the same from the company in return
    - proffesional - need to invest in business/technology areas, so it will pay off in a long run.

    Pros

Well, if you're unemployed, they will provide a paycheck. Dont forget to read the reviews for Thomson Reuters, which now owns FXALL. Say goodbye to raises and bonuses.

    Cons

too many to list. See the other reviews, dead on.

    Advice to Management

Most department heads need to be changed out. Think: Does this person *own* the dept. Are they subject matter experts? Do they take responsibility both improvement and for mistakes? Answer it honestly.

    Pros

Flexible hours and work at home within reason option.
    Intelligent and pleasant colleagues.
    Central location - easy commute
    Unrestricted internet access
Provides up to date computers, laptops
Has monthly birthday cake celebrations - thoughtful!

    Cons

Too little respect from management for those on the floors investigating issues
    Too many #1 priorities
Poor communication of what is really going on
    Nepotism
Too political for such a small company
    Unfair compensation
Cuts too many costs on staying current with major middleware and operating systems

    Advice to Management

Promote communication across teams and within teams
Ban nepotism - follow an ethical procedure when hiring and promoting
Have a priority a follow through on it; instead of leaping onto the next shiniest object!
    Apply compensation fairly

    Pros

Strong communal attitude with members who are not senior management.

    Cons

After being at my new position for almost 2 years I realize now how much we were all taken advantage of by senior management there. No work/life balance, which is sad. No matter how hard you work it doesn't seem to be enough. There seemed to be a lot of secrecy within upper management.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so demanding of your employees. I feel appreciated where I've been working now, something I never felt in my approximately 2 years at FXall.

    Pros

I was employed by FXall twice and I want to say that it is the best company I ever worked for.
    1. FXall really cares about their employees
    2. FXall is very fair when it comes to compensation
    3. The Firm is constantly growing
    4. FXall has strong technical personal
    5. Excellent top management.

    Cons

In some areas the technology is a bit outdated. I think It's due to a large clientele base and its support.

    Advice to Management

The management should not afraid to adapt newest technologies.
The educational weekly technical and business lunch and learn sessions should be part of the culture.
