    Pros

Good culture, strong growth opportunities when external and internal conditions permit.

    Cons

    More limited opportunity of late.

I have been working at FXCM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Office location on Water Street

    - Fair pay- generous bonus and raise

    - Casual attire

    - Summer Friday's

    - Work/Life balance. I leave and am never expected to check or respond to emails if I'm not in.

    - Flexible work from home policy if you've been there long enough.

    Cons

    - Transparency is not something that is important to this company. You will read headlines about changes or scandals before you hear about it from management.

    - NY location is shrinking by the day while dozens of jobs are posted for Bulgaria (with a few for London). This makes employees nervous that there may no longer be a need for a NY office in the future as more and more jobs are done (for cheaper wage, of course) from Bulgaria.

    - Cross departmental communication is almost nonexistent. Sales and marketing each don't know what's going on with each other and constantly blame each other, deadlines aren't met because people aren't kept in the loop.

    - Little to no company culture. The perks of casual attire and summer friday's do not make up for the blah feeling around the office.

    - Company used to be held to high standards and now has quite the bruised reputation as they keep trying to build their name back up to it's former glory days.

    - No 401k match

    Advice to Management

Create a real company culture with open and honest discussions. Town hall's do not assure us of what the future will hold and it doesn't create a sense of team work or belonging. Be more transparent about what's going on in other regions and why certain things are changing. Maybe have an employee lounge (you know you have the space for it) and not just a ping pong table that's randomly set up by the programmers once in a while in the kitchen?

I approve of Brendan and things have gotten better since he took over, but there is still a lot of uncertainty about the future. Removing mini accounts, going DD and significantly increasing the minimum deposit is a drastic change that will certainly have long term effects.

Benefits are pretty good and I can see HR is really trying. But seriously, no 401k match is terrible and very outdated, vacation could be better (2 weeks is standard, 3 is more common these days), short term disability should be included alongside the included long term disability. Finally, clocking in/out for non-exempt employees makes us feel like we're being babysat.

    Pros

Great if you're junior- or senior-level. The former for the fact that there will be a lot to learn, and the latter because it's a cushy gig. Mid-level developers will experience a lot of frustration and feel stuck.

    Cons

    - Plenty of nepotism: many employees will not have earned their positions through actual merit.
    - Unprofessional staff in New York.
    - Benefits were cheap, but base salary was low.

    Pros

A place to earn a little money while looking for a legitimate company to work for.

    Cons

You should all know by now what Upper management did. Defrauded clients and investors resulting in the company being banned from the US and several other markets, causing it to go bankrupt.

    Advice to Management

    Go back to driving taxis!

I worked at FXCM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

After working there for years, if you kiss your upper management, forget your personal life and willing to dedicate every available minute to work overtime, they may send you to travel the world.

    Cons

Extremely political. They promote some of the dumbest people, only because they kiss upper managers' behinds. Promotion has nothing to do with how smart you are. International offices only hire model like girls straight out of college and don't look at actually well-qualified candidates. You have to swallow a lot in order to be able to stay at your job here. Upper management as caught by the CFTC doing a lot of dishonest practices, playing against clients' interests, therefore the company can no longer do business in the United States. Well deserved, FXCM!

    Advice to Management

Start hiring for brain, not looks! Promote smart people who know what they're doing, not those who please you in front of your face and gossip behind your back. Be honest with your clients and in order to succeed. Value your employees.
