Associate Attorney

It seems partners are much more flexible with associates who have kids than with those who don’t. If it’s okay for my colleague with a kid to leave at 5 pm and log on later, why isn’t that the same for me (no kids)? My obligations might be different, but I still have a life and want to be able to do certain things, like catch that evening workout class or cook dinner for my partner. As you can probably tell, my firm is operating 100% in person. There is no point here — I’m just whining.

    Pros

Some of the staff are very nice

    Cons

cheapest firm i have ever worked at, management is terrible and beyond unprofessional. There is no balance given to the employees and attorneys are drowning with work. People are miserable here and most DO NOT like to work. You are not given much respect here and most people last 6 months to a year. Those who are there more than 4 years are power hungry and are favored. I do not recommend this firm to anyone

    Disorganized Chaos

    Pros

Lunch time is the only positive.

    Cons

Some of the staff are very nice and friendly. The file room and mail room personnel are great. Some legal secretaries work harder than others. If you complain then your work will not get done on a timely basis. The paralegals need more space and room. It is a fire hazard waiting to happen and I feel they work very hard despite the circumstances. Most of the attorneys are hard working while others coast by. The offices are filled with papers and files.

An honest review of being a paralegal at Fabiani Cohen & Hall

    Pros

Easy, stress free, 930-530 schedule. Get to be out of the office a lot to serve/file papers. If you are fine in a factory-like setting where you do the same thing over and over again everyday, this is the place for you. This isn't meant as a negative as some people are totally okay with this.

    Cons

    1) Job gets dull and repetitive very quickly. Paralegals don't do much besides (1) processing and tracking requests for medical records (2) scheduling IMEs. This is because the associates need to bill out an lnsane number of hours and thus don't delegate any tasks to the paralegals. I'm sure they would process their own authorizations if they could get away with it. 2) Office manager liked to find reasons to pick on staff. If you had a habit of showing up for work at 940 instead of your scheduled 930, you'll be in a meeting with a printout and someone asking you why you were late 27 times the last 3 months lol. They also had the receptionist be some sort of spy as one of her job duties was to note what time each person comes in and out, attorneys included. 3) This one comes with an asterisk. The pay is low but when you take into account that you aren't doing anything substantive it's probably not bad. I'm sure the associates could use a raise though.
