I have been working at Fabri-Kal full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I started at Fabri-Kal in 2010 as a temporary Inspector Packer. I am now a Technical Service Manager for one of the plants. I do not have a degree or any prior manufacturing experience. All that I have; Fabri-Kal provided. We do a good job of facilitating and promoting individual growth.

    Cons

Non climate controlled shop floors. Typical in the industry, but would still be nice.

    Advice to Management

Continue to improve on recognizing individual performances.

    I worked at Fabri-Kal full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good pay. Off most holidays.

    Cons

Low quality of life. Lots of mandatory overtime.

    Advice to Management

Start putting your words into actions and not just say you care about your employees quality of life.

I have been working at Fabri-Kal full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is competitive. Most people you work with are nice.

    Cons

This place treats their employees like machines. There are no sick days. You get a 'point' when you call in... More than three points in a rolling one year period and you are ineligible for promotion, at six you are fired. Your personal life/family does not matter to this company. They will change your hours or give you mandatory overtime at the drop of a hat and penalize you for having scheduling conflicts. As you would expect, salary/office employees are not held to the same standard.

    Advice to Management

Treat all of your employees like human beings.

    I worked at Fabri-Kal full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent salary, great coworkers, several plants and stable company. Use to do more for employees but have reduced it over the years.

    Cons

Mandatory overtime, not a lot of room for growth. Will be promised things with no intent in fulfilling them. Insurance could be better.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with more respect and invest in the them as they are the greatest asset to the future of company.

  7. "Mandatory Overtime Is a BIG Issue!!!"

    I worked at Fabri-Kal full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They have pretty good benefits. Pay is pretty decent for the work.

    Cons

BIGGEST one has to be the fact you will never have a day off and if you are on night shift that is a BIG deal.. due to the 12 hr shifts being forced to work everyday will make you hate the job. They will tell you to work all your days off and some of them you show up and get sent home but have already slept your *day off* away if you are on night shift. If they could give days off like they make it seem when they hire you the job would be amazing.

    Advice to Management

Stop the absurd amount of Mandatory Overtime so that the people with kids and lives can enjoy what they are working for... this is the biggest problem especially if you are an IP. YOU run the hard workers into the ground and need to get a handle on a real schedule.

    Pros

    Cons

Training could use a bit of work

    Advice to Management

Conduct better training for office employees

    I worked at Fabri-Kal full-time

    Pros

Very forward thinking company with regard to thermoformed plastic containers. Their work with GreenWare biodegradable polymers was fun to work with. Lots of time doing various tasks and not always sitting at a desk.

    Cons

Smaller engineering department that you might expect.

    Advice to Management

Provide interns with higher wages to increase competition and attract more applicants.

I have been working at Fabri-Kal full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company is very family oriented, even offering the Fabri-Kal foundation for college tuition for employees and their children. Both corporate and a manufacturing facility are local and continue to grow. Leaders serve the employees instead of ignoring them as often seen in manufacturing companies. Departments work together to solve problems and complete projects.

    Cons

Growth is good but it also means they operate at 0-100 at the blink of an eye. If you don't know how to say no to a project, then you will burn yourself out. Employee culture is shifting but there are still some negative Nancy's in mixed into departments with no ownership at all. Same as any company.

    Advice to Management

Review work loads at all levels and continue to push the culture change.
