I have been working at FactSet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people, exposure to senior management, ability for travel, intellectually challenging client base. Lunch 4 days a week, great health benefits, and generous vacation.

    Cons

Role transitions can be slow and inefficient. Often times you may be working on old responsibilities 6months into a new role.

    Advice to Management

Move and reward top performers faster

I worked at FactSet full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Innovation and great people made this one of my favorite places to work. The diversity of personnel is fabulous and should be duplicated around the United States!

    Cons

Too East coast focused with the layoff of several persons in California in 2013. Still I miss the group of people I worked with for 7 years.

I have been working at FactSet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

100% employer paid health benefits, free lunch Monday - Friday, flexible work schedules/WFH policies, friendly atmosphere, accessible leadership, great autonomy

    Cons

The training for positions outside of engineering or consulting could be more robust. However, the autonomy provided outweighs this being a negative. They could be more competitive in base salary, however, when you assess the benefits provided the salary is manageable.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!!

I have been working at FactSet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is still growing, which translates into generous benefits and decent salaries for the people who work there. The free food and excellent health insurance plans are particularly noteworthy.

The people who work here tend to be very smart, but still down-to-earth and approachable. Additionally, they have a well-established system for internal recruiting, which allows employees to avoid getting stuck in the department that hires them.

    Cons

The performance review system is too simplistic. Consequently, many employees that slightly exceed their managers' expectations end up with the same raises as employees who either meet or fall a bit short of those expectations. FactSet gives good raises to significant out-performers, but only if they work in departments that contribute significantly to the firm's bottom line.

Also, at least in my department, you need to get several promotions before you're eligible for a bonus.

    Advice to Management

Add more nuance to the performance ratings.

    Pros

    Excellent training program
Tons of time to learn at your own rate
Opportunities to grow (although you'll notice not everyone there is trying to do this)

    Cons

There are many non-career oriented people. Some people like this culture, but I prefer to surround myself with highly motivated and driven colleagues.
You may have a lot of self-directed time, some people cannot handle this well.

    Advice to Management

It's going pretty well, keep up the good work!

I worked at FactSet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Health insurance is fully covered by the employer, including family plans.
    4% matching on 401k, not 3%.
Management is fair and reasonable to the employees

    Cons

    Limited work from home responsibilities
Limited growth opportunities in established teams
Does not send engineers to related trainings

    Advice to Management

Career growth planning would be useful as would some reasonable allowance for working from home on a regular basis.

    Pros

Really couldnt be more smitten with this company after 9 months.

The pay is great. There is an emphasis on recruiting smart but friendly people. The company is constantly focused on taking care of you. Immediate opportunity to grow your career.

    Cons

Really the only cons I can think of are:

People don't know the company yet, so telling your friends you work for Factset requires an explanation. Even though we're a top 100 place to work in America for like 8 years in a row.

Also I work in Norwalk and Im not a big fan of the location. But its not as bad as I assumed and there are opportunities for me to move to NY, Austin, and San Francisco.

    Advice to Management

Think about opening more jobs in places like San Francisco and Austin, unfortunately its a big deal for millennials to work in trendy cities.
