-Get to be outside and be active. -Work with people around the same age and make friends
Cons
-Extremely low pay -Limited flexibility -Power hungry supervisors -Poor scheduling

Pros
They are flexible with scheduling
Cons
Does not compensate you for added responsibilities. Extremely limited opportunities for advancement. Offer limited hours during off season with no regard for your financial situation. No job description so they can essentially give you any responsibility and tell you that its part of your job. You are effectively on call due to severe staffing shortages. Pay rate is not competitive.

Pros
Positive feedback from patrons finding the park programs as "excellent" and that they enjoyed them "immensely."
Cons
Condescending people! - Managers/bosses talked down to me and shadowed my work even making some of the most basic, simplest tasks VERY difficult such as cleaning and sweeping often being told I did a "very poor job." Additionally I felt devalued when park patrons asked me if I was a "volunteer" despite that it was my PRIMARY source of income (and health insurance). Park patrons also talked down to me saying working for Fairfax County isn't a "real" job.

Great people, terrible agency leadership
Aug 20, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Front-line staff members at park locations are excellent. Very dedicated leaders at park locations.
Cons
Agency-level leaders are limited in abilities and the work environment is dysfunctional. The best employees are leaving in droves as a result, and many are not being replaced. Those who are left have to absorb extra job duties and have to put in extra hours on nights and weekends just to keep up with the workload.
