I have been working at Fairfax County Public Schools full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fcps offers great benefits including paid holidays, paid snow days, Monday to Friday schedule.

    Cons

It’s so hard to move on to a higher position. You can be promoted only in the same school you started if you’re lucky. I hate that most positions advertised are already taken by a candidate the school likes. It’s very upsetting. Principal’s lack of professionalism can be harmful, it can cause a hostile environment suck as favoritism among employees.

    Advice to Management

Be professional and stop favoritism. The staff needs to feel supported.

I have been working at Fairfax County Public Schools part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The better schools have kids who are engaged in school, and want to learn.

    Cons

Half of the schools are full of hispanic kids who have no interest in learning or showing respect. This comment is not racially charged, see advice below.

    Advice to Management

This is one of the richest, and largest school districts in the country. The test scores are amazing (for white kids and asians) and a good portion of the population are in their 20's and don't care to participate. The schools treat subs great (again, depends on the school) but I am also asked to do a lot for little pay. I get cursed out by teens on the daily for less than $15 an hour, you decide.
