    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Fairfax Digital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Product Suite and the creative solutions are certainly interesting.

    Cons

The induction experience requires a fix up, which ultimately resulted in me having to learn the products and teams by myself as my manager left for a holiday mid way. In saying that, the manager was a good person but it would have been nice if there was more guidance to start off with.

    Advice to Management

A hands on mentoring approach is necessary for a more structured on-boarding.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Fairfax Digital as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I really can't think of any pros, except that due to their size and their reach they make a good resume stuffer.

    Cons

Just what the title says. They are all about the crisis. And they direct everyone to make ridiculous projections "for motivation", and then harass them when they don't meet the false projections. Pretty stone-age management.

    Advice to Management

    See my cons.

    Pros

Casual work environment as didn't need to wear business attire

    Cons

Small projects would like something meatier to work on

    Pros

Great opportunities to work on some of Australias busiest and most recognised websites.

    Cons

You work with lots of different people, and at times there seems to be no consistency in approach or methods.

    Pros

Nice location and physical space (Sydney). FD represents such a wide variety of sites and, therefore, has the potential to offer to a diverse professional experience.

    Cons

Realistically speaking, it can be very challenging to work with a larger parent business that has not fully embraced (and can be threatened by) even their own online venture. There is not much meaningful collaboration or alignment between the print and online businesses and there is also very limited opportunity for advancement outside of Sydney.

    Advice to Management

Value good people above (almost) all else. Too many good talent leave because they see no viable options for professional development.
