I worked at Fairleigh Dickinson University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was working under the Professor who gave me extensive knowledge of Big Data Hadoop all tools and technology. It's my pleasure to get the opportunity to work under him. I am always thankful to him.

    Cons

I don't find any cons. Not at all.

I have been working at Fairleigh Dickinson University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Freedom to customize lesson plans, easy going staff and faculty. Classes are capped at 25 students (for standard upper division courses), and you have freedom to overload to 35.

    Cons

The building is very old and run down. The rooms are always really hot, the projectors are lucky if they work, and there are no computers in rooms (in most departments), so you must bring your own. The school will spend millions to tear out plants and plant new ones, but not to fix the broken toilets, projectors, or printers.

    Advice to Management

Renovate! The biggest problem are the dilapidated buildings and outdated tech. Neither students nor faculty/staff should have to endure miserably hot classrooms, lack of climate control, broken projectors, and broken toilets.

I have been working at Fairleigh Dickinson University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very flexible work schedule and your employer is not constantly on your back.

    Cons

They do not seek much feedback from employees. Many decisions are based solely on financial concerns. Employees feel stretched with little support. It's a very politically driven environment. New leadership has changed some common practices that have been working all along.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and seek their input. Top leadership needs to build relationships with all stakeholders.

I worked at Fairleigh Dickinson University part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

professors have ability to teach courses based on their individual experience vs strict curriculum mandated by dean/ department heads.

    Cons

Lack of opportunity for advancement to the next level professor for part-time faculty. Highly ranked professors do not get recognition and advancement.

    Advice to Management

Be fair in considering long term employees for advancement as long as they meet/exceed the requirements for new career advancement opportunities

I have been working at Fairleigh Dickinson University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

University invests in its students and employees through education.

    Cons

Could have a more diverse student and employee population. Promotions are driven by favoritism and politics...not on skill or merit.

    Advice to Management

The culture should be more about the betterment of the university instead of individuals self-promoting or departments/campuses competing with each other. Eliminate unsuccessful programs and consolidate.
