I have been working at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The New largest IT hotel in Austin.

    Cons

Too many to fill this space. Insecure, immature, and unqualified management. Has a horrible reputation for treating competent staff like imbeciles. High turnover due to uneducated, ego driven leaders.

    Advice to Management

Micro management and ridiculous expectations are the reason you’re shiny new exterior fails to impress.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Coworkers are nice. All the banquet captains are there and willing to teach and explain anything and everything you want to know. The biggest attribute about this company is they allow you to grow and not crush you if you don’t get something right away. The standards are high but the consistent support makes it all worth while.

    Cons

I would like to work more during the summer months. It gets really slow and u have to save money for this slow season.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing❤️

Seniority System Few and inconsistent hours More sub par workers than you would expect (mostly the longer serving ones) Not a very happy place Very hard to move up Management was stealing 3% of tips

    Advice to Management

Scrap the seniority system Bring in younger people or people with more energy/positive attitude Renovate the cafeteria.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Great benefits, if you can get past the lack of clear staffing and accounting procedures - Supportive colleagues who are also trying to make this employment work successfully for themselves, and for others

    Cons

    - Poor behaviour by management and human resources towards employees - No trust in the way hours, gratuities, and taxes are being accounted for - Management is clearly not working with the best interest of their employees in mind

    Advice to Management

Try not to climb the corporate ladder so fast that the staff below you suffers. It's obvious to everyone, and the employee morale and culture is awful due to it.
