Prestigious Work Environment: The Fairmont is renowned for its luxury and high standards, providing employees with a prestigious workplace to enhance their professional experience. Networking Opportunities: You'll have the chance to interact with a diverse clientele, including high-profile guests and business professionals, which can lead to valuable networking connections Flexible Hours: Many banquet positions offer flexible scheduling (if you're on-call), making it suitable for those seeking part-time or seasonal employment while accommodating personal commitments. It's always nice to make your own schedule, especially if you're in college. Customer Service Experience: This role provides an opportunity to develop strong customer service and communication skills, which are highly transferable to various other industries. Work with a Diverse and Inclusive Team: A diverse workforce brings different perspectives and can lead to better decision-making.
Cons
Physical Demands: The job can be physically demanding, requiring long hours of standing, walking, carrying trays, and lifting heavy objects, which may lead to fatigue or discomfort. Irregular Hours: Banquet servers often work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts, which can make it challenging to maintain a consistent work-life balance. Seasonal Employment: Some banquet server positions at The Fairmont may be seasonal, leading to potential periods of unemployment during the off-season.

Pros
Literally NONE other than getting my internship hours. Could have done that anywhere though without feeling like I'm being tortured.
Cons
First of all, interns were all lied to before we got here. We were originally told that the positions would be rotating, and once we got here, we were told they wouldn't. Then they proceeded to put the majority of us on dish washing duty, and the dishwasher has been broken for months. They expected us to do the dirty work that has no benefit towards our education and hospitality, and is extremely physically demanding and exhausting. After a lot of push, they finally allowed rotating positions. However, that is just the FIRST problem we encountered. So many things in our rooms are broken, and our rooms our TINY – barely big enough for one person, let alone 3. Our food is literal slop, I think I would rather eat prison food… unless maybe this is prison food. We are not allowed to use anything in the resort, which we wouldn't mind if there we were being taken care of better, but because of how they're treating us, our mental health is horrible. We're physically and mentally exhausted from working here. Every time someone goes to HR with a small issue, they ask if we want to go home. Slowly, I begin to realize that they hired so many of us because they knew we would hate it so much that they would have plenty of people quitting on them. That tells me that they've done this before, which makes this even worse. Right now, an intern has quit almost every week or every other week since May.
