    Pros

At Fairmont, there is excellent support from senior management, great people to work with and opportunities for advancement. I would recommend working at Fairmont for any hotel professionals.

    Cons

You are expected to work well beyond 40 hours a week, as well as nights, weekends, and holidays. It is very demanding, high pressure and non-stop.

    Pros

Great training, attentive employees, work benefits and competitive pay.

    Cons

Long hours, crazy schedule, very lean staff for the amount of work. Not a lot of opportunity to the executive office for minorities.

    Advice to Management

Staff level need to increase if your want to be competitive and provide a 5 star service. Stop replacing hourly workers with managers so you don't pay over time

    Pros

The hotels are very pleasant places to work. Management gives a reasonable amount of
    authority to employees. Great co-workers

    Cons

Raises are a bit hard to come by yet responsibilities tend to continue to grow.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees with regular raises

    Pros

Great co-workers! Beautiful property - the BEST in SF. Good cross team communication.

    Cons

Had to repeatedly ask for tasks as there wasn't an extensive number of projects for me to do.

I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts full-time

    Pros

Awesome place to work. Good money, benefits, management support, etc. Five Diamond all the way around. The high expectations of guests and management really motivate you to be the best you can be. Loved it.

    Cons

Sometimes long hours and no flexibility in scheduling. Depends on what are of the resort you work in but seemed pretty typical. When the resort was at capacity, expect to be there. There was definitely a lot of overtime, whether you wanted it or not...

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. This is an amazing place to work and most of the managers I came in contact with were fantastic.

    Pros

Great culture & values with lots of career opportunities

    Cons

Compared to competitors, compensation & benefits are terrible. No work life balance in management. Senior management is out of touch with what goes on at the actual hotels & resorts.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most hourly employees are good people

    Cons

They suck the life out of their managers. They talk work/life balance but the only people that get this are the Executive team. They do NOT care about you or your personal life. You are expected to come in on your days off to attend pointless meetings. The trainings are endless and have no real correlation with what your job functions are. Turnover is CRAZY high which is usually an indication that upper management has no clue what's going on in their operation. Stay away from this hotel.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the managers that are actually running the outlets. If you have unhappy managers, you are going to have unhappy employees. This is business 101. Respect managers time off. When someone works 50-60 hours/week they don't want to be bothered on their day off.

I have been working at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts part-time

    Pros

They give good discounts on hotels and your lunch meals. They have a large employment rate.

    Cons

They promise you with long term careers and wanting to keep everyone on. But after orientation, they don't even remember your name when they pass you in the hallway. Their number one priority is to keep guests happy no matter what, even at your expense.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. And don't look down on them in any position they are in.

    Pros

Travel Benefits with a positive flexible schedule. Fairmont is a leading brand with great employee access.

    Cons

It is in the hospitality industry so be weary of the long hours and non-traditional scheduling.

    Advice to Management

Let your employees know more about the company wide benefits.
