I have been working at Fairview Hospital part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent wages, company promotes from within

    Cons

rising health care costs are causing cutbacks. Fairview is increasing the number of hours needed per pay period to have benefits. Jobs and increase in hours is based on seniority not merit.

    Advice to Management

Provide opportunity for growth to retain employees.

    Pros

I enjoyed my time at Fairview and I do recommend it as a workplace. There is a strong sense of public service at this large nonprofit, and there is a lot of innovation in the IT organization as a result of perennially tight budgets combined with the rapidly advancing technology of health care. Employees were some of the nicest folks I've worked with. Also, great medical benefits as long as you use Fairview hospitals, which are some of the best and located all over the area.

    Cons

Ultimately I left due to the low salary. For my experience level I was making drastically less than I could in a for-profit company.

    Advice to Management

I do think they need to adjust up the salary levels a bit but I can understand why they don't - they seem to get great people without having to do so.
