I worked at Fairweather (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved working for this company. I am a strong and talented merchant with a real strength in product development and this job allowed me a great deal of freedom with respect to showcasing my abilities in these arenas. I enjoyed working with my team mates and the other members of the buying department and particularly enjoyed working directly with the CEO and owner who is a real product person himself.

    Cons

When I moved to Los Angeles and switched from being VP Merchandising to just buying and designing product from the LA market for the Canadian stores it became increasingly difficult to do so given the terrible exchange rate of the Canadian dollar, Indeed, eventually we had to stop the arrangement entirely as buying product made in LA was no longer viable at all.

I worked at Fairweather part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good first job
    Nice co workers
Nice customers ( if your lucky )

    Cons

Bad Training- you have to learn everything by yourself
Bad management team, the managers talk down on us and don't tell us what to do better when they get mad at us.
Horrible breaks- the back of the break room is horrible and your breaks are not as long. Once you take your break it feels like it's pretty much over.
Bad POS system.- You have to remember all the prices of the clothes when cashing someone out. The managers don't put it in the system you just have to look around to find the price of the item.
No hours- There could be a week where I'll only have 5 hours. The manager picks her favorites to get the most hours. Usually it's the key holders that gets the most hours and all they're doing differently from the sales associates is closing and opening the store. The sales associates don't get no love from the manager it's like they look down upon us.

    Advice to Management

Train the sales associates properly and put the items in the store in the system so that we don't look anxious towards the customers when we don't know the price of the item. How in the world can someone remember every single item in the store? Fix that please. Also, if you promise someone an amount of hours give it to them. Don't pick your favorites to get the most hours cause everyone needs money to take care of themselves.

I have been working at Fairweather part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice coworkers if youre lucky, you make some money at least. Its retail so its not all terrible

    Cons

Low pay, no perks, all the incentives are for the management team when majority of the time sales associates are pudding sales to get a decent amount of hours

    Advice to Management

Have an exchange policy that is universal so customers dont think the associates are making up their own rules. Incentives should be for the whole team not just management.

I worked at Fairweather part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Good, professional team
    - You can earn some basic retail experience pretty fast and easy there
    - Good as a first retail job

    Cons

    - The lack of work hours
    - Manager's attitude
    - You have to yell through the whole store in order to say something to your coworker. They simple just do not want to use headsets (so unprofessional)

    Advice to Management

    - Keep your promise. If you promise to give your employee 15-20 hours per week then please do it. I received this promise and still worked for less than 10 hours per week even though I did really big sales. They just hired too many employees
