    Pros

Does have a good group setting for collaboration and does work towards the greater good for employees and its Members.

    Cons

Some positions in the organization just do not get the recognition it should. As a result these positions are always on the low end of the salary scale.

I worked at Fairwinds Credit Union (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Christmas party! Pay was reasonable. Community involvement. There is not much more I can say. Met a lot of great people

    Cons

Management treats employees awful. It's a hostile work environment. Upper management needs to see the RVP and there bosses are unrealistic. If you are not part of the in crew you won't succeed.

    Advice to Management

Executive management should clear out the middle management team and get back to what's in the benefit of the member.

    Pros

    Can't think of any

    Cons

Management sets unrealistic sales goals that puts a huge amount of stress on everyone. This companies favorite word is "goals". It is so contradicting when they say they do what is in the best interest of the Member. If that was the case the their wouldn't be sales goals because then they would just let you focus on the true need of the Member instead of just making referral after referral.

    Advice to Management

Stop creating pressure and stress to the Crew that does all the work and makes the Credit Union operate on a daily basis. Why don't you put yourself in their shoes to see if you could achieve these goals (you probably couldn't)...You wonder why turnover is so high.

    Pros

Wellness reimbursement program is the best of any company I a aware of. 401k match is good and as a whole the company has a good culture.

    Cons

The culture doesn't really trickle down to the individual departments. Upper management does not take criticism/ideas well.

    Advice to Management

Try to listen to employees more fully and take feedback.

    Pros

They promote and fill positions from within first. Rate of pay is competitive.

    Cons

Major lack of communication and consistency between departments. Micro-managing from higher-ups. Extreme staffing issues make for tired, over-worked, frustrated employees.

I worked at Fairwinds Credit Union full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits (can trade in unused sick time towards medical expenses which was very cool). Frequent cool company events like big Christmas Party and Halloween costume contest. That's about it.

    Cons

Leadership, starting from the top down, is very difficult to work with. Really rude encounter with CEO kind of put me off from ever talking to him again. There is a huge push for sales above all else that makes me wonder if the management here even knows what a credit union is supposed to be. Very big bank feel. Also, lots of cliques...you are well liked if you know someone important but otherwise you're on your own. Very true in HR and Marketing especially.

    Advice to Management

We need a new management team that can bring Fairwinds back to what it used to be - a community focused credit union. We've gotten so far away from that focus - it's all about business loans now. Please stop all the favoritism and start to trust your employees to do the right thing! We have smart people here but a lot of them are leaving due to business practices that focus on sales over everything.

I worked at Fairwinds Credit Union part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The branches are tight knit and normally have a family feeling at first. Pay rate is competitive.

    Cons

Goals are hard to achieve, management act superior at times and make you feel inferior. They like to fire people with not much cause.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent with rules and regulations for employees.
