I have been working at Falken Tire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A fun job, gets to travel a lot. Great for networking. Well paid. They are a family-oriented company and they will support it.

    Cons

There is a disconnect between parent company's goals (SRNA) VS Falken's goals.

I have been working at Falken Tire full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Stable company
    Good healthcare benefits
    Fancy office

    Cons

Company under-titles many employees in order to keep pay rates down
Managers seem to rarely add value
Human Resources exists only to fulfill managements desires
    Cover your a** work style
Communication between departments does not exist
    Email overload
    Bonuses are less than 1%
Two faced culture, nothing like what is presented.
Inflexible old-school work environment (strict schedules, no privacy, zero work from home)

    Advice to Management

Communicate effectively, employees can’t be enthusiastic if they have no idea what is going on.
Empower employees to do more by simplifying jsox rules
Require managers to know the job! If they can’t do it, how can they manage it!
Establish a real bonus program, both performance and profit based
Give people the raises the deserve, stop holding their careers down with bad titles
Allow a flexible work environment for more employees
Executive committee needs to get their heads out of the weeds! Delegate!

    Pros

CEO is one of the most genuine people I have met in his position. He genuinely cares about the people and the company. Exciting Motorsports involvement. Loads of potential for further growth of company.

    Cons

Still some growing pains. The company expanded very quickly and the technology needs to catch up. Limited growth potential in some areas due to small employee population.

    Advice to Management

    Keep hiring smart.

"PLEASE get some experienced and competent middle management"

I worked at Falken Tire full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Must love motorsports, Falken dedicates a lot of resources to supporting multiple motorsport efforts. Like inordinate amount. In fact, Falken probably pours more time, money, and manpower into motorsports than other tire companies 2-3 times bigger. Company experienced tremendous growth despite the recession, which is a good sign. Many employed for DECADES here

    Cons

Almost seems like the company grows despite the terrible middle management. Almost seems like there's a HUGE gap in skill, talent, and experience between the Senior executives and the next level of "leaders" within the company. Even during the big company pow-wows, the Executives would outline their vision and direction for the company, and then the middle tiered managers would express their own interpretation of said vision and it's often two different messages. Most of the middle tiered managers have little to no real world management experience, and the ones that do don't often get the opportunity to move up, or work in an area where they can potentially make a bigger impact on the company.

The end result? The grunts are dissatisfied, the executives are wondering why their clearly set goals are not met, in the mean time stuff rolls down the hill, and the people that are making the mistakes are rewarded and the people they manage either fired or blamed for the short-comings of the company. A very toxic environment to work in, unless you love motorsports.

    Advice to Management

Time to seriously look at ALL of your middle managers. Anyone "Director" and below needs to be re-evaluated. There are some real poor performers that has gotten by with luck, politics, or a turned blind eye. I mean, nobody likes middle management but in opinion, it's exactly what ails Falken.
