I have been working at Family Dollar Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Laid-back
    Largely autonomous
    Annual merit-based raise

The company used to give a christmas bonus based on years of service however due to the acquisition of Family Dollar, the bonus is now given as an all-or-nothing coupon for the store

    Cons

    Inconsistent work schedule
    Lack of payroll
Location will affect payroll, size of team, etc
    Attractive to unreliable employees

The maintenance and upkeep of stores is basically nonexistent and many contracted service fall on the CSR to complete

    Advice to Management

Find the right people, treat them right, and compensate them properly. Turnover is ridiculous, I’ve seen 5 workers in my same position come and go over 1.5 years

I worked at Family Dollar Stores full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is literally no pros on working for this company as an employee, it's just a huge mess as a store.

    Cons

They have a monthly budget which is why the stores run as microstores. Huge theft, robberies, management structure is a failure. You have to be very desperate to work for them. You will regret working for them in one month time.

    Advice to Management

Monthly budget and lack of management structure.. the company is a huge failure. It's so ridiculous that they brand themselves as a competitor for Walmart when they can't even have full staff employees working at rush hour times.

I have been working at Family Dollar Stores part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get to interact with new people everyday. Your coworkers are a plus too

    Cons

It seems like the company wants to make it harder to us to do our jobs. The turnover rate is insane I have been here 3 years and have went through 7 store managers and over 60 coworkers. I haven't even received a raise once since I been here.

    Advice to Management

How about taking better care of your store managers. They are regular people too that have to sleep

I have been working at Family Dollar Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's not that far distance and I can put plenty of work into the job. It's a small store that can be controlled with the right help

    Cons

Watching the store would be a challenge and maintaining if I would have to would be a challenge to overcome

    Advice to Management

You all run a good establishment so what advice is their to give

I worked at Family Dollar Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours are very flexible when you're a student in school. Good job for a young person between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one.

    Cons

Manager duties and responsibilities without the pay. Many duties that are not yours, you will have to take on because of bad management.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate more and more clearly.
