I worked at Family Dollar Stores part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pretty flexible hours, decent pay for retail, good coworkers for the most part.

    Cons

Excessive drama, bad management, unstable hours, extremely high employee turnover rate, no respect or appreciation.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. If someone comes to you saying their coworker is being verbally abusive, don't just push it under the rug and forget about it. Don't promote cashiers to assistant managers after two weeks, even if you're desperate. The store will fall apart if your team is not feeling appreciated or respected and that's why there's only one employee left out of everyone I worked with over the course of one year. And listen to our ideas, just because you're put boss doesn't mean your ideas are better by default.

I have been working at Family Dollar Stores part-time

    Pros

Great Co-workers, friendly environment, work isn't hard at all (could be a con if you don't like being inactive).

    Cons

-Back to back close-open shifts (10pm close-6am open)
-Could have a 4 day break between working then all the sudden 12 hour over night shifts, weekly.
-Menial down-time where you could spend hours wiping glass, and cleaning floors.

    Advice to Management

Your employee's are humans too that need some downtime between shifts. Hold management accountable to complaints from employees please.
